I use cable only, because I started playing in the early 90’s and wireless was not an option. It doesn’t bother me at all, it’s just an habbit.
Wire or wireless, play what you want, both will work with no serious sound issue. If you’re recording maybe go the traditionnal cable way, tho. But otherwise, wireless works fine.
For audio, I use these. Plug in my headphones into the receiver, and the transmitter into the Solo monitor jack. Makes for beautiful wireless recording.
My current setup is Bass → Zoom B2 Four → Amp, and I’m thinking of getting a wireless to cut down on cables. Just due to the size/shape/layout of the room, the amp is on the other side of a table from where I practice. Would it be a dumb idea to get two sets - one for bass to Zoom, and a separate for Zoom to amp? Would they interfere with each other? Anyone have any experience trying something like this?
Bumping a thread to detail and experience I just had.
Just finished playing a support gig in Glasgow and had to scramble 2 songs in to replace my wireless with a cable.
I’ve never had an issue with it, and soundcheck was fine, but partway through the first song it was intermittently cutting out and I couldn’t quite tell if it was the amp or was also cutting out the D.I line and therefore the P.A.
Changed it out for cable and the rest of gig was fine. Until it became obvious that one of my guitarists was having the same problem. Which he didn’t realise at the time was his wireless because he’s been fixing his amp in the last couple of days and thought it was giving up.
The venue is under a railway bridge that leads into the station in central Glasgow. I’ve played there with the wireless before without issue but this time it just wasn’t having it.
A combination of trains, stonework and several networks in the area.
So yeah. Wireless systems can be great, I love mine, but assess the environment and keep a cable handy.
