1/16 Notes for Dummies

It’s me. I’m the dummy. I’m on Module 9 and pretty sure that I’ve never seen any curriculum on playing 1/16 notes. My son is playing Zombie by the Cranberries on his guitar, and since I saw that it was a lvl 1 song included with this course I figured that I’d give it a go, but right away I started running into 1/16 notes that haven’t been covered, which kind of confused me given that it was listed as one of the “easier” songs.

Is there a lesson on 1/16 notes in this course, or can anyone give me advice on how best to practice them?

Thanks in advance:)

in the course itself there are no 16th notes, but there is a masterclass on it, after you finish the course  hope that helps

I always play Zombie with 1/8 but a faster tempo. I find that easier when chugging.

Thanks for the responses, everyone. I’m slowly getting the hang of it.

@MSschneider yeah, I can see where that would be easier for sure. When I was originally practicing the song only in 1/8 notes I was making great progress memorizing it, but as soon as I started trying to include the 1/16 notes my progress immediately began going backwards:joy::joy::joy:

It’s a low BPM song. Instead of thinking about playing 1/8 notes at 80bpm, think of it like you’re playing 1/4 notes at 160 bpm. Then you’re sprinkling in 1/8 notes.
