Before I get too deep into the 50 Songs Challenge, is there a plan to change it to the 100 Songs Challenge?

Once you’ve done your 50 there’s another 50. When you are done with that I can help you with the next 50 of funk.

Put the entire 100 song list on a spreadsheet because I plan to do some stuff with it, might as well share it so everyone can make a copy and improve it/takes notes of their progress or whatever they want to do. The original 50 remain in their challenge order and I added the other 50 where they sort of fitted, don’t expect it to be a perfect progression (but they are hard divided between the 3 tiers of difficulty) Beginner 2 Baddass 100 Songs (Plus Honorary Song Hysteria) - Google Sheets

What you want to do with each song of the challenge is to post them on the Post your cover thread. Playing in front of the camera is not as easy as you think.
It’s more nervous than playing in front of a crowd of a thousand for sure, to me at least.

YYZ, I’ve played it 96 times in five weeks and I’m not ready to record it, I was trying to be ready by 100 but its not happening. Hopefully by 200.

I love it! I’m petitioning to make this the new official challenge list
A few of the new “easy” songs have given me a lot of trouble already. It makes me wonder if there should be a “very easy” and “easy” section. Some examples:
- Stand By Me was easy to learn, but listening to my recordings shows that I’m having trouble keeping time because there’s not a consistent drum beat
- Hound Dog is somewhat easy until I try to play it above 120 BPM
- My Girl is easy to start, but a challenge to memorize with all its variation between verses and the bridge
Admin probably wouldn’t want to add another difficulty tier, but I hope we can be very mindful of way we sort a potential First 100 Songs list. The first 4 songs on the 50 First Songs had a great difficulty curve for me. Now I’m bouncing around a few of the new additions and finding they’re a bit tougher than the first few I learned.

While I checked the tabs to sort of get an idea of where to put them, I haven’t played most of these songs and I have no intention of going through all 100 because I don’t particularly like a lot of them, hence the warning. The copy of the list I made for myself I’m sending to friends so they pick songs they like and at least learning them to send them the cover will keep me motivated, once I go through a bunch of them I’ll move one to just learning songs I like. (I also added the 50 first metal songs list on my copy)
That’s why I said people are free to made a copy to improve it, because it obviously needs to be reordered with a lot more thought by someone more skilled, but all someone with the knowledge has to do now is drag the rows up or down. There’s problems in the way some songs are categorized on the website, because I don’t see how Post Malone’s Circles is intermediate (the song is literary 4 bars all the time). Plus it’d be nice if someone tagged which skills each songs teaches, because in my case I’ve been chugging to Metallica songs for a decade, but syncopation I had barely ever touched it before starting the course.

No gods involved. The 50 Song Challenge part of the forum was designed by @JT . He was a student and forum member just like the rest of us. Unfortunately @JT hasn’t posted on the forum in just over a year.
He, and quite a few others put a considerable amount of work into putting it all together. Updating for the 100 songs would require a volunteer to step up and curate redoing that whole section of the forum.
A little bit of BassBuzz forum history…
The original Discord channel was created to help people get access to the bass-less version of the 50 songs. Which was something that couldn’t be stored in the forum.

Adding threads to the forum is one thing. And I wonder if it’s really needed anymore. One of the reasons it has a separate area of the forum and each song has their own thread was to keep the covers thread from being over-run by a bunch of people doing the same song. But I believe that people are adding “50 song” covers to the covers thread at this point, which has turned out to be a non-issue, so do we really still need a dedicated area for those 100 songs?
The whole pdf/bassless part was a lot of work - I did a bunch of them, along with @gcancella , who kicked it all off by offering up the drive space. I’m not really in the mood to do 50 more… 
But, if someone does, that’d be great for those that are motivated to do the other 50 songs…

What are the rule of the challenge? Songs and tabs? Or just songs?

This is good point.
The original idea was, each topic would act as a repository of knowledge for the individual songs. So, anybody coming later would already have the guidance of those that had already tackled that particular song.
I still think it was a great idea, but I don’t know that it ever really got used that way.
@Al1885 There were never any rules. It was meant to offer some structure for players to get those first 50 songs under their belt.
I’m pretty sure only one person has completed the challenge.
Edit: I believe both @Paul_9207 and @dlamson13 have both completed the challenge.

That is how I’ve been using each song thread. It’s very helpful to read/watch how others have tackled the songs.
Cheeze_pizza completed the challenge as well, and I think Johnnyb is close (maybe 1 or 2 more)?
