4-string with tight string spacing

Are there any basses with tighter string spacing? I want to try a 4-string bass that has string spacing narrower than “normal”, say 16,5 mm like many 5 string basses.

A Hipshot Kickass replacement bridge will allow you to adjust string spacing at will.

Just noticed how far he’s bending that E string!

Such a weird photo. The inlay circles at the first frets seems to sit on top of the strings :metal:

It looks like there is a string missing on the low end (look at the nut), so maybe there is no B?

The Acinonyx by Nordstrand has 17mm spacing

Yeah. Any Warwick has this as a standard feature as well. Note that this method will not change the width at the nut, of course.

Better picture @John_E
Apparently he uses guitar strings on it

But it certainly looks like there’s no string in the E groove of the nut.
The bass has been drastically modified over time including a total reshaping/profiling of the neck

That other pic is even more suspect.
This one has a Rick neck. That other one is something I’ve not seen before. Hmmm

Did a bit of digging. It was built by this guy John Dawk Stilwell. Heavily modified Ricky 4003

Ah. So there are no stings on the one side of the fretboard. Weird.

Love this one. I love quirky, basses and everything else.
Thanks for the tip.

Maybe a good luthier can get that done for you
