So I did the math… I could have a Dingwall Combustion in June ( ish ) Major GAS… but would be worth it.

Buy one!!! They are fantastic basses! If you really want to make me jealous, get the JT :sunglasses: (I’d love it in black!)

I have to further crunch the numbers … after taxes… its $3360 ( i flubbed a decimal place ) … I could save that up in a month after the new season starts.

As for finish… I’m going to ask them if they can order in… right now all they have is blank Ash.

I messed up the tax calc… missed a decimal place… its actually 3360 w/ taxes… so 3 weeks of saving  Totally doable.

April (season start) / May - get ahead on rent.
Then June - dump cash to a Dingwall  Easy peasy

Can you play one anywhere near you?

Our local shop carries them … the Nolly, the Combustion… and 1 other…

So yes… I can get ‘hands on’

Cool. You ought to take advantage of playing as many models as you can so you’re sure which one really does it for you.

Oh for sure… I have played a bunch of makers in the past… and have a feel for what I already like… what I am more interested with the Dingwall, is the tone… I am diggin how the triple pickup works

Yep, I was referring strictly to Dingwall models.

Who knows? You might dig a less expensive model instead of a high-dollar option. It’s been known to happen.

The cheapest Dingwall they carry is the D-Roc … and honestly… not a fan of that bodystyle… funky shapes don’t work well for sitting practice :stuck_out_tongue:

oooOOOooo… they sold the Nolly…

Mines ‘only’ has two pickups :sob:. I could have bought a conversion kit, but to be honest, I can’t see the point as I love the way it plays anyway.

I posted this pic on the ‘bursts’ thread the other day. As you can see, it’s not a solid colour like the NGs or the JTs, and I rather like that. I treated it to a new pick guard, the Matt black they come with is just so zzzzzzzz. So it’s now rockin’ the first deep field image taken by the James Webb Space Telescope. This image serves to remind me of our place in the grand sweep of time (13.7bn years / 4.6bn years / about 200 thousand years / 80 to 90 years, if we’re lucky).

If you haven’t played a fan-fret, don’t worry, they take a whole 5 minutes to get used to. I swap between the Dingwall, standard long scale basses and my short scale without really thinking about it.

I have to agree with @sunDOG that Dingwalls are just super awesome, and for sure not just for metal, very very versatile.

However, I waited paitently and got a used Nolly-3 4-string in Ferrarri Green for $1695US. Used market and paitence wins the race, as Dingwalls come up quite often. Don’t forget about the talkbass forum marketplace, great deals there too.
