4K YouTube to MP3 app

I just came across this app over on the Band in a Box forum in a thread discussing its use with Song Master Pro. You give it a YouTube video URL and it extracts the audio. You can then import that audio track into SMP, do the stem separation and work with the bass track from there. The free version could be all that you need, but there’s a Personal permanent license available for 18 € that adds a bunch of very useful features. I picked up the Pro permanent license because it adds support for the high quality audio (if present) that I get with my YouTube Premium subscription. It’s normally 58 €, but is on sale for the next 4 days (from today, 27 July) for 25% off. I paid 43,20 €. I really like the idea of being able to feed it a playlist URL and have it rip the audio from every video in the list. Nice feature!

The app developer is in Germany. It’s available for Windows, Mac (Apple Silicon supported) and Ubuntu.

You can also use Jdownloader2.
I use it a lot - like every day!
It’s free/open source, and you can also download complete channels or playlists (ie BassBuzz).

It’s possible to select different video (MP4, MKV, WebM etc) and audio (M4A, AAC, OPUS etc) formats, so no need to recompress. This ensures maximum quality.

Highly recommended!

Gonna remember that one fellow Dutch piraat!

Arrr … don’t confuse me with the Flying Dutchmann

It’s not pirating - it uses HTTP-streaming and cannot crack encrypted stuff, so all good!
Everybody uses it this side of the border … it can do much more than just downloading youtube videos. It also works with the German Mediatheken, and many other file/server types etc.

I use it a lot for batch downloads, also professionally…

As you come from the South of Holland, I assume you can read German?

More info:

Oh I know. Just wanted to call you piraat  No meaning behind it

Und Ja, Ich spreche ein kleines bisschen Deutsch und kann ik Deutsch lesen

Here’s the link to the JDownloader official website (in French). I use AdGuard to block all sorts of crap, and the Chip site wants me to turn it off or pay 3,99 €. Not going to do either.

EDIT: OK, I hate this kind of app installer. If you’re not careful which buttons you click on, it will install up to 5 apps that I definitely want nothing to do with. And then it exits to a webpage asking for a donation. I’d much rather just pay a small amount for the app up front and not have to deal with any of that. I’ve installed it, but will stick with the 4K app because I prefer their business model.

EDIT 2: And then their are ads in the app itself. F it. I’m just going to uninstall it.

It’s a false positive. I use both malwarebytes and Bitdefender and they flag it too.
Chip is the most important computer Magazin in Germany and can be trusted 100%.

You can test it with the chip download link for 4K YouTube to MP3 :

It also shows a false positive, right?
I have put chip. DE on the exception list.

EDIT I just looked for the advertisement … ah, found it

Upper right corner - I use this software for many years now and have never seen it before. Just installed a 10 year old version … and it was always there. Need some glasses

That’s not it. AdGuard doesn’t complain. Websites (mostly media ones) detect that you’re using an ad blocker and pop up a box over their content that asks you to disable your ad blocker or pay/register to continue. One, I’m not going to disable AdGuard. Two, I’m not going to pay/register for a site that I can’t test first. So, I immediately abandon it. This happens a LOT with German media sites.

AdGuard blocks a lot more than just ads. It blocks trackers, threats, phishing attempts, etc. That’s why I refuse to disable it. It’s a necessary addition to Windows Defender.

You mean this?

I just need to click “Aktzeptieren” (accept) and all my troubles are gone.
I get a warning for the Chip installer, but that’s cause it will offer some additional software (which can be disabled).

Really, Chip is one of the most trusted sites in Germany. I always use it for “unknown” software, as they precheck stuff thoroughly … and I check it again with Malwarebytes, Bitdefender and a software I cannot remember which is on my router. I am a security freak

I cannot recommend Chip enough. Same for JDownloader2!

Yeah … there is DSGVO/GDPR … and then they give you the choice for ads on the site or a subscription.
Also, many sites have paywall nowadays, which I bypass with https://archive.is/

If I click “Akzeptieren” but don’t temporarily disable AdGuard, that box just pops up again.

Chip (and others) may “guarantee” that their downloads are virus- and malware-free, but I despise installers that try to install other apps. There is no such thing as a free lunch. Somehow, some way, you’re going to pay. I prefer the honest approach of offering your product for a fee. Try before you buy free demos with limitations are OK.

That’s true, well except for OpenSource.

Still, before I download from a unknown site, I 'd rather go via Chip.

But, I’m not here to convince you.
4K YouTube to MP3 looks good too and it’s on position 11 on the Chip download score, so that’s reassuring…

This website is free… use it almost daily to obtain MP3 files to put into Moises to extract the bass line and then Audacity to add Rythmn count in of 2 bars…and into backing track library for bass covers
