No apology necessary, mate. We’re all good.
It’s still very good advice and I’ll keep it up my sleeve in case I get bored and start looking at other basses in the future
Normally I would go for the Squier, as the quality is as good as the Player, but I really like the Player Jazz. I’ve owned one and liked how it felt and sounded.
It’s a good instrument
Let me count the ways… ![]()
Depends on what your everything is! I personally have flats on both my P’s, but if I had a more aggressive gig I’d set something up with roundwounds. Classic hard rock is probably fine either way, but you can sus out what was used with original artists to get your finger on the pulse.
It’ll all get buried in the mix live anyway. ![]()
To be fair to GAS Guy on that one - dramatic tuning changes will affect your setup, so it’s hard to have one bass pull off EADG and DGCF back and forth.
I thought you were all supposed to buy me basses!

Definitely have a hollow body on my list! I love the tone and it’s hard to replicate with anything else.
LOL. It’s like a bad clone of a Fernandes Zo. The difference is, the Zo is adorable ![]()

See, Zo means “elephant” in Japanese. It even has a little LED for its eye. The headstock is its trunk ![]()
Neat little travel bass, builtin amp and speaker.
Still looks better than a Bongo
It’s a close race to the bottom.

At first I thought it was a shinny (field hockey) stick

No.

Yeah, sorry.
Why can’t we all just get along?

Well, now I just want to buy a Bongo bass and cover it in fur like the ZZ top guitars
I said that just for you ![]()
It is interesting that EBMM says “Within the range of instrument woods it was found that basswood provided the best balance of tonal qualities, resonance, and sustain.”
I…want to buy a Bongo bass and cover it in fur
That’s a good start. ![]()
You guys are being mean to Leo by harshing on the culmination of his life’s work!
Enjoyable and informative as always. After 2 1/2 years I am finally getting a 2nd bass.
