I did not like the USB charinging on the NUX btw, it ran out too fast.
My go to headphone amp is still the Boss Waza.
Its pricey but does everything and is amazing.
Charge lasts for more hours than I can play.
Nothing sounds better.

Have you seen GX-100?
Nope, looks great! Boss is doing a real good job at innovating tbh. I kinda hope Line6 will be following too. They did release a cool modeler combo amp.
Yeah, that is often the case with USB charging. We’ll see about battery longevity, but so far I played once for over 3 hours and there was still a half charge left. I doubt that I could play much longer than that in one sitting.
Yeah boss does battery life really really really well.
I have the Boss Pocket GT. It works well for both the bass and guitar. Battery life on a full charge is about 4 hours. I have the app set up on the iPad. When you bluetooth the pocket GT with your device and have your music you are trying to learn in the app, you can have the presets change as the music is played. So if you wanted to start clean and about a minute later go to a Spacy Delay for a solo then after the solo you wanted Drive preset you could put those markers in the music so the box will switch as the song is played. Another thing you can do in the app is customize your own presets and upload them into the unit. There are probably other things you can do, but these are the ones I remember. The unit seems to be smarter than me.
@MC-Canadastan Thanks for the Valeton review. I have both a Vox and a Blackstar & am fairly pleased with them as practice tools (I think their physical weak points are less pronounced on left-handed instruments, surprisingly enough)… but I loathe burning through AAA batteries. The Valeton’s rechargeable battery and pots (instead of dials) have it on my radar & in my wishlist.
Interesting way of looking at it. I’ve always thought of it the other way around… Boss is trailing Line6. The GT1000 is several years old now.
It depends what category you are looking at. Some products are several years old but for example they do bring out (different form factors) pedals occasionally. The more complex pedals have a normal, Large, XL version now which is kinda cool. The new space echo looks kinda cool BOSS - The Next Generation Of Space Echo. Sadly bass releases has always been a bit slow if you look at the GT1000.
I would say the Pocket GT is unique because of the YouTube function. Recently they released an electric synth guitar (EURUS GS-1). They added also added a wireless expression pedal (EV-1-WL) and I even think they got some Bluetooth options too. The Waza-air is a unique wireless headphone because of the spatial audio feature, etc…
So BOSS / Roland do launch a fair bit of new products each year(?) while I don’t see that much new gear from Line6 (except for the new Catalyst amps and a XL version of the HX Stomp). Which is bit of a shame because I love Line6 gear.
Btw I found out on another threads that they removed bass section for the Nux mighty plug? Is this true? Also I heard about mightier app the community have been working on. Does that have bass section, or was it scrapped also?
The Nux MP-2 has bass amps and cabs. You can download its app to see what’s available
I just checked it out. Yeah the bass section is completely scrapped out. And idk what’s the good setup for bass in the app either
Amps:
AGL is an Aguilar DB751 iirc. Possibly just a Tone Hammer
Starlift, I have no idea. But it’s on a Trace Elliot-looking 4x10 on their site. Maybe one of their heads
MLD… not sure. Acoustic 360?
None of them look like an Ampeg SVT or Portaflex which is surprising to me. It’s by far the most common bass amp given to bass players on every modeling platform XD
Cabs:
AGL_DB810 is an Aguilar DB 8x10
AMP_SV810 is of course, an Ampeg SVT
MBK_410 is a Markbass 4x10
TRC_410 is a Trace Elliot 4x10
I would pair the two AGLs to start, but those are the bass options. Sometimes, with IRs, I get good results with guitar cabs, too.
Aguilar is hard to find too. I got one on my Helix Native and it is also my favourite
I finally got the Nux mighty plug about few weeks ago. It’s really been great, but for some reason it’s not as loud as I wanted it to. Probably because of my headphone’s impendencies? But I swear my phone could run the headphone just fine. Does it somehow just have a low power?
Ouh also now that I’ve been using it for few weeks, I’m open if anyone wants to ask anything about it
Others have said this too.
I did not find it too quiet when I had it.
Could be your bass output.
Is volume on the bass all the way up?
If active bass, fresh battery?
Your pickups might be lower than optimum for output.
Just might be low output pickups.
Yeah. I’m using a passive bass with headphones. The knob’s been cranked all the way up. The reason why I think it’s my headphone’s impendencies was because when I tried to use my iem, it sounded too loud instead and it also have some kind of noise.
What’s your headphone’s impedance? Most consumer electronics aren’t expecting to drive 600ohm cans
I’d say Fiio makes $25 headphone amps but then we’d get into an Xzibit situation. “yo dawg, I heard you liked headphone amps, so I got you a headphone amp for your headphone amp so you can amplify headphones while you amplify headphones.”
It’s 55 ohm. I figured it’s not that high for a headphone, that’s why I thought maybe the plug just have a low power
Hmm yeah that shouldn’t be a problem. Though it’s approaching twice what most consumer headphones are these days (32ohm iirc).
