A little music related fun (Part 1)

This is the way.

Was your comment intended to me, or were you replying to something else? In my comment I was saying throwing CDs in the trash in my opinion would be musical heresy. We weren’t talking about bananas.

But anyway, I agree taping a banana to a wall isn’t art. Marcel Duchamp’s “Fountain” wasn’t accepted as art in 1917, but still it was closer to art than a banana (at least it was a sculpture). A banana could be called Nature’s work of art, but it isn’t art per se, rather a statement.

Josh has a banana tattoo on his arm

My tastes in art are largely musical with a little Bob Ross thrown in for good measure

I politely disagree. After giving this some thought, I think Art is whatever you want it to be.

If Art brings another person joy then it has value IMHO

I have a friend who’s a sculptor. He’s not rich, but is deeply happy in his work. I have some of his prints up in our house. If someone’s prepared to pay for it. it’s definitely art, even a banana. A stupid as that seems :man_shrugging:

100% agreed! Since I decided that my life is one great act of performance art, I have much more fun.
If everything can be art, you and me can be too

The fact that it got people to say it isn’t art (and many, many people and news outlets participated in that debate) proves it is art

Legendary bassist Will Lee cites a standout example of James Jamerson’s brilliant innovation on one his bass lines.

(Note: Unfortunately, the documentary “Session Men” from which this clip is excerpted was never released for theatrical or television distribution, and it’s a shame. It was produced by a session musician who intimately knew and lived the life. The film reportedly featured interviews of and demos by some of the most prolific studio musicians working at the time of production.)
