Also only viewable in Germany. I had Surfshark VPN installed once upon a time, but found it REALLY intrusive, even when not engaged. It was a bitch to uninstall completely. It took me over an hour to clean everything out of the Windows registry. That put me off of VPNs. All I wanted it for was to watch all of the movies on Prime Video that had really poor French dubbing, with no subtitles, French or English. Prime Video refused to operate unless I picked a French server, which negated the whole idea.
When I was doing it, my group was 3rd Crusade Knights, so we could have chain, helmets etc which is a plus when you are hitting each other reasonably hard.
The dark age groups went more for lamella and padding with some chain, but everyone had a helmet-like I said we were hitting each other and the helmets have the dents to prove it.
We had groups with plate and sometimes mixed up the periods at events. Plate monsters tend to be invulnerable and know it, but on one occasion I saw two guys with spears put their points into the shoulder joints of a full plate guy, walk him backwards against a tree, ground the spears and leave him there.
One thing about owning armour and living near a movie studio is that they hire you and your armour for movies.
My armour was hired and used in Scooby Doo, the sallet Shaggy hides in is mine and I still have it. Also they mixed up the armour sets for the roller coaster ride scene and the extras found it too painful to wear for 12 hour+ takes so they hired me and other reenactors for the scene and paid us as stuntmen, so I am in the 1st Scooby Doo movie 
I also hired them some Roman armour for the Heath Ledger series Roar and I was in that in a couple off scenes too.

Yeah, we have nothing like those, our re-enactors take themselves very seriously.

Had to look up exact lengths, I knew that some were more than daggers.

It’s remarkable that different cultures came up with certain shapes, sometimes the same.

The seax seems to lack the big knob at the handle as a counterweight to balance the sword. I was utterly fascinated by the way the swordsmith in the video above handled his very well balanced replica of the viking sword…
Knifes and swords had 100s or 1000s of years to evolve, as a tool and/or as a weapon.
Its design depends on culture, strategy and types of warfare. It’s a long way from the Egyptian khopesh to the medieval broadsword to the foil, for example
I thought that the Katana is the most advanced sword ever, but after watching the documentary I mentioned before and another one that compared Katanas and some high end medieval swords, I’m not so sure anymore…

I have to get back to this later. Last year they found a long spear head in Janakkala. I can’t remember the details, but it’s past my bedtime and tomorrow I have to wake up early for work. But I’ll research more later. It’s interesting.
