A little music related fun

I think that’s called “redneck ingenuity”.

Being from Portland, I like all beer. However the hops arms race in IPA’s depresses me a little, it’s just too damn… hipster. And again, being from PDX, trust me - I speak hipster.

Classic example of the pendulum swinging too hard…

Great to have so many good IPAs though!

That is one small grolsch bottle…. :grinning:
And yes grolsch is much better than heineken which I personally find highly overrated.

It’s a 12 framed by my ogre sized meat mits.

Exactly, I didn’t mind a good IPA 10 - 12 years ago before the quadruple hops IPA’s started to hit the market. I think it swung my tastes the opposite direction. For a little while, all of the CO microbreweries made just about nothing else. I think I started drinking Blue Moon as a protest. It’s gotten better since but I still prefer ambers, stouts, and hefe’s. Twenty-twenty four has been the year of the cider for me though. I’d never gotten into them much before, but we’ve got some amazing local cidery’s. I was over on the western slope last weekend and found a Mom and Pop place that was making a honeycrisp and dark cherry cider that was insane.

The IPA thing ran its course with me.
Too many bad ones. Some brilliant ones, however, I’ve come full circle back to nice clean Pilsner’s and lagers and old school regional beers. IPAs make my feet hurt, the the high ABV is not wanted.

I dearly love good pilseners and lagers. It’s not like there is really much difference anyway, after all pilseners are lagers, just with slightly more hops (in general).

But for me, doppelbock and doppelbock/stout hybrids are where it is at. McMenamins’ Terminator Stout is my favorite drinking beer to this day, and I can’t get it here.

Hmm, I can probably find Spaaten Optimator though…

I’ll carry the torch for ipas, they taste great!

I do find myself rarely wanting to drink anymore, but especially rarely wanting to drink anything over like 6% abv.

Kolsch is my favorite lighter style, I guess I’m just an ale guy.

Most Japanese beers are usually lagers but there’s some great ales and bocks too. Almost all of them are good, the only mainstream beers here I would strongly not recommend are either the gimmick ones (flavored and/or highball-adjacent) or the happoshu ones (which are only marginally beer).

Lots of craft beer/microbrews here too.

Beer is everywhere here, easily the most popular alcoholic beverage (and one of the most popular overall beverages). Very popular to drink it with meals.

I’m not drinking much these days but good beer is there when I do

Not sure if this is of interest to many here, but I love seeing how artists use different samples - and Burial does it so well :ok_hand:

Oh sampling is something I both think about and appreciate a lot

I mean, Skinny Puppy lol

Actually I decided to get more in to sampling this year, it started with playing with Bitwig’s sampler and culminated in me going in on UVI Falcon’s ecosystem as they were having a great sale.
