OK, I need to counter with a really, really bad math joke (which has a less than 10% chance someone gets it ):
A function was flying through space when it chanced upon an operator.
O: how about I take your first derivative?
F: I don’t care… I am e^x
O: too bad, buddy… I am d/dy
…slinking out hoping no beer cans will hit me on the way out…
I started out a physics major, lasted one semester, scored 18% on the final and due to the curve, got a B. Took a long hard look at that and switched majors.
Maybe it’s obvious (or otherwise only related to experience/the curricula in my country), but physics and engineering studies involve a lot of mathematics, especially calculus, in the early semesters. However, the culling process, usually hard, is quite different. Most engineering students struggle a lot to pass calculus exams. Physics, you just die of labs and lab reports
