You can always put the lead sheets on your phone/ tablet and attach the phone/tablet to a stand.
Less noticeable than a full size music stand with paper lead sheets that can possibly blow off the stand, and sooner or later one will. Don’t ask me how I know.
I can recommend Mobile Sheets Pro for the phone/tablet software app. I also use a page turner footswitch for multi page songs. Total cost was about CAD $60.00 for both.
The cost savings alone in not having to print out lead sheets has more than paid for the software and footswitch and all of my songs are grouped into All Songs, Set Lists, and Collections categories.
There are also others on the forum that use and swear by this set-up.
My heart has been smiling for weeks now because of you all. Thank you so much for the feedback and advice throughout this particular thread. Much Appreciated
Nate & I played during open mic night at the Copper Club Brewery and we couldn’t be happier. Well, if someone offered up 4 of the 6 lottery numbers then we would be happier. RIGHT? Anyway, we played a few covers that we just taught ourselves and two originals.
To set the stage here, we were the only ones to sign up for open mic. We originally planned on playing another three song set but the host Kevin allowed us full range. Now, the camera was unmanned and unfortunately has a built in 15 min shut off feature. Great!! Another tech option that I will be navigating through. Classic
Again, I camped out on whole notes and Nate’s voice is incredibly strong. When Nate and I first met back in March, I explained that I am a simple @JoshFossgreen BassBot Newbie. I really wasn’t interested in “playing” covers because I am clearly unable to play mistake free.
With original tunes, we just play to play and nobody knows the difference. Oh , how those times are a changing and we are both feeling comfortable with simple chord cover tunes. In fact, we are practicing a four song medley that we hope to play this Wednesday June 7th. Fingers Crossed
Not at the time but my favorite section of the whole video happens to be nothing connected to music. Nate’s daughter tells the most innocent Hot Tomato Pizza eating story while Nate tunes his guitar. Cracks Me Up
Anyway, feel free to speak your truth. Share your thoughts. Explain yourself. All comments are welcome. And most importantly, thank you for following along.
very nice
I like that 2nd song, it is a good original by Nate and your bassline for it is cool (even got a walkup thing in there [see around 5min mark], just like a pro )
Hopefully when others see these live videos on the forum they will start to realize that a lot of their fears of playing in public are really unfounded. And it only takes once to realize how much fun it is to play with, and for, an audience.
When a few of us get together and jam in a park it has always amazed me how music is like a magnet and draws people in. Good times. Good times.
We were practicing with an electric guitar player. Ran through a few songs and I played my usual whole notes for 3 to/or 4 count beats. Nothing flashy what so ever.
The new guy plays MJ’s Billy Jean. Remembering how we all have struggled with that little gem??? I was completely floored myself by playing it note for note without missing a beat!!!
I had such high hopes and then I went ahead and SH*T the bed for sure. At the time, was way bummed. All of our friends really enjoyed the set but I felt as if they were simply be nice. Now that I have had a listen, I was pretty bad but not that bad. I played a lot of leading notes. Not wrong notes, leading notes. Classic
Hopefully you all appreciate the middler jam with an original on each side. And thanx a million for watching.
