Besides learning to play the bass, my other hobbies include Curling and with the Olympics in full swing many curling clubs around the world are hosting Try Curling events. If you happen to be in the NC Triangle area, let me know and I’ll help get you on the ice. It’s a different way to ROCK!
It’s definitely a fun like an adult size chess on ice.
I love curling, I actually look forward to that with the winter Olympics more than hockey (I’m a huge hockey fan). This throw was frikkin nuts.
That was awesome! Korey may be the best sweeper in the world. He’s a heck of a nice guy too. My wife and I are big hockey fans as well. We’ve had Hurricanes tickets since the team moved to NC. Before that we had Panther’s tickets long before they became a bunch of thugs… Can’t argue with their success, it’s just not my kind of hockey.
I was living down in Fayetteville when the Canes won their cup with Cam Ward. My wife was in Manitoba and was friends with his billet Mother when he was in juniors ( plus we’ve still got friends in Raleigh). They’re my eastern team, but I’m an Avs fan / wife is from Edmonton. Agree about the Panthers, I hate that style of hockey. Paul Maurice has always been a douche canoe.
Embed doesn’t work, but it’s a funny curling-related video.
Someone said curling… ![]()
That’s awesome! Thanks for sharing it.
Let me know if you visit Raleigh.
there used to be at least 2 bars in chicago that had curling, it looks like a blast. edit: it looks like kaiser tiger is still doing it
ok this might be the most Chicago thing ever. “Yeah, we need an ice rink in the bar. You gonna keep asking questions or just do it?”
I think we have different ideas about curling! I have a couple of different bars with weights on them!
If I’m 20 years younger, I’d definitely give it a go. It’s pretty demanding physically.
I was a curler, many many moons ago!
I actually made it to nationals in my 3rd year of curling! I had to give it up because I moved. I live near the Rochester Curling Club now. Unfortunately, my work schedule is such that I don’t have the time. I hope to get back into it when (if) I retire. I loved it and I was in the best shape of my life while I was curling!![]()
This is the first thing that pops into my mind with I hear “curling”. When you’ve lived with someone who was compulsive about it, it’s difficult to reorient. It irritated her no end that mine were natural. All I had to do was towel dry it after a shower.
But I can see where the sport gets its name, looking at these curls. And, yes, full disclosure, I’ve watched some of the Olympic coverage of curling.
From 1979…
I actually have a very funny story about that: At our curling club (ice, not weights) we do corporate events and a guy showed up in exercise clothes because he thought they were going to be “curling” weights. For the record I’m pretty sure he was cold the whole time…
Work can definitely get in the way of hobbies. Other than the lack of people sending me checks, retirement is great! We have a number of curlers in our club who used to curl in Rochester.
Like looking up something about a bass and getting fishing answers!
I’d really love to try curling. Sadly here in Brazil it’s just…not a thing.
