Any dog veterinarian in the house?

Me, neither. Lifelong decision. I got a vasectomy when I was twenty-two.

Did the same but I’d already made my small humans by then and was just making sure there wouldn’t be anymore.

Man, I’m so sorry, @Al1885. Please do check with other vets. It can’t hurt and it could help a lot.

Yeah, thanks guys. It’s a stressful time. We are doing everything we could to help her recovery as well as taking care off the puppies. The good news is she’s eating. Her special food has high calories and has to be prescribed by the vet. I’m hoping to see a good change within a few days. Finger crossed. :crossed_fingers:

Thanks @faydout you know she’s from your neck of the wood, Colorado. She and her mate flown down together on a Private plane. Another tragic story, they have such a great business model and facility doing really well the husband and wife were really kicking butt making awesome reputation, then months ago they were coming back or going somewhere on their plane and it went down. So sad.

That’s absolutely heartbreaking, for the family and Luna. Colorado is a really dog friendly state, we regularly bring pups in for fostering when there are natural disasters in states around us. It’s odd that there weren’t groups ready locally to take care of her (unless you had a connection with the family).

Before we had 4 of our own, we used to foster Great Pyrennes and mini Schnauzers, which was how we ended up with 2 mini Schnauzers.

Always hate to hear this. I love General Aviation and am a pilot myself but my wife vetoed my hobby with that soon after we got married, and whenever stuff like this comes up I can understand her side of that.

Yes, and it’s good to have choices.

However, not choosing to have a dog, I think you are missing out on a special relationsship. Dogs are wonderful beings… but I often feel like we (humankind) doesn’t deserve dogs (considering how badly they still often are treated).

Well put. And agree, we totally don’t deserve them.

I’m with these guys on this @sshoihet

The pain and loss really sucks but the 10 years Sadie was with us I wouldn’t change a thing.

She was rescued from being tied up to a plywood shed for the first two years of her life. Rescuing a dog is IMHO a much better deal than adding another human to the planet.

I’m suspicious of people who don’t like dogs!

Dogs are always happy to see you and a lot of my good memories are from time with her.

Like, genuinely happy to see you. We go out, go to work and about our little lives but we’re their entire world. Being pack animals, they are instinctively social creatures and we are their outlet for that. If I’m being honest, I think dogs understand people at an emotional level better than people understand people in most cases.

I had an old dog a while ago, Tanner, and my mom’s care center let me bring him in for visits. When I left, it would take me 60-90 minutes to get out because all these people in wheel chairs were lined up to pat Tanner and tell me about a dog they once owned. Tanner was in heaven.

Now that I’m living with both cat and dogs I now know why people says cat lets you know it’s their place and you are just a tenant :joy:

Love my dogs. This breed especially, so far all of them are like Velcros. They just stuck on your side. In winter the boy would lay at my feet and keep it warm.

One week update.
It’s been a tough and stressful week.
We needed to separate the puppies from their mom so she could stop producing milk and speed up the recovery, mainly gain more weight. We started taking the 4 puppies to work with us and feed them throughout the day.

Mid days when I leave to pickup my daughters from school, I’d stopped by the house and feed Luna with her special high calories prescription diet. First few days was rough, as she’s not very energetic but by Wednesday she has more springs in her steps. Today when I opened the door she just bolted out as per her usual self, it’s annoying but it’s a great sign. I could still feel her spine and ribcage hopefully, the fat and meat will come back soon.

As for the puppies, I don’t have to worry about them, they are as fat as Guinea pigs and have no hesitation about letting us know it’s time to feed, :joy:

Thanks everyone for the supports. You have no idea how much I appreciate it.

That’s GREAT news, @Al1885!

Those babies, mom and pups, are precious and worth every bit of effort to make sure they’re safe and healthy.

I know you’ll keep on keepin’ on, brother. Good for all of you! :+1:
