Likely a stupid question but I’m not the best at replicating tones at the moment. I have a basic PJ bass from Fender and a Mustang GTX50.
The forum doesn’t allow me to post youtube links unfortunately.

Hi!
First, I don’t have an answer for you about the tone.
I’m not sure why you can’t post links, usually we can.
I know that Danny Sapko usually takes followers requests for how to replicate a specific tone. Maybe drop him a line.
Try posting again, it’s doable.
You have to have 5 total posts, and then you can do it.
The age of wonder about these things is over…
Ask ai, prompt with type of bass, type of amp and tone you’re trying for and you’ll get the settings.
Let’s see how close it gets:
The bass tone in “На заре” by Альянс (Alliance) is iconic—dark, chorus-soaked, and cold, like it just crawled out of a Soviet synthwave cathedral. To recreate this tone, you’d want a blend of new wave production sensibility and post-punk attitude, with gear settings and effects that mirror the 1980s Eastern Bloc sound.
Type: Something vintage or vintage-style, with passive pickups.
Strings: Flatwounds or old roundwounds to reduce brightness.
Control | Setting |
---|---|
Bass | 6/10 |
Mid | 4/10 (scooped) |
Treble | 3/10 |
Gain | Moderate |
Master | As needed |
Use a solid-state amp if possible—tube warmth isn’t part of the aesthetic.
Chorus – Essential
Compressor – Optional but helps
Reverb – Just a touch if you want the isolated synthy sound of the track
Use a bass amp sim like:
I love how it says no tubes and then recommends a tube amp sim.
Isn’t that technically a solid state amp?
ok good point
Yeah thought of asking him as I watch his posts every day, just thought it’d take a bit long.
Probably because you’re new to the forum. Many forums have a threshold number of posts a member needs to do before they can post links. It’s to discourage spambots.
Welcom to the forum
