Hey gang! I’ll be going to NAMM for what is remarkably my first time. Somehow I’ve skipped that musician rite of passage until now.
Anyone else going?
++ any gear or artists or other you’d be particularly thrilled if I grabbed photos/video of?

I won’t be able to make it this year. Too much going on with work.
@JoshFossgreen, make your way to the Mayones booth to check out those truly phenomenal instruments. You should also plan to catch Hadrien Feraud and Federico Malaman playing there. They’ve been at the Mayones booth for years. Nate Navarro will likely play there, too, very likely demoing the new Mayones model (aimed squarely at Dingwall).
Also seek out the Sire booth to catch Marcus Miller playing and chatting with folks. He will definitely be there as he’s the heart and soul of Sire bass designs. Well worth your time to check them out.
Dang, that’s a bummer man.
Yeah, man. It’s a drag you can’t go to the show. However, the venue is legit massively large, and walking miles and standing for long periods in a day is definitely required for NAMM. There’s so much everywhere to see, hear, and block from your hearing!
Check out Scott Mulvahill! He tricked out his upright bass and will be showcasing it there.
If anyone is giving away free samples of new basses, keep me in mind!!
Kinda goes without saying but anything new in the four string (or 5 or 6 string) Bass world will be of interest.
Chatting with Marcus Miller would be cool.
Why didn’t you call me, I’d carry you on my back man,
I didn’t plan to go because Fender and a few others didn’t show up for a few years already.
You are correct. I couldn’t believe it when I first went. Fender and Yamaha had gigantic wings of a building, and then the year after covid, Fender wasn’t there. Strange because they are located right there in Orange County. Yamaha only puts ONE small aisle of a FEW basses (low end to Nathan)… it’s all keyboards, pianos and other instruments and products for them. Even though all the musicians, a fair number of bass manufacturers and products are there, it seemed to be diminishing. 2 years ago. It was HEAVY with DJ and electronic equipment, lighting, etc. The industry is a changing.
I thought Fender was back this year. Did something change?
@JoshFossgreen Preamp pedals! I am hoping Fender will surprise us all with a Rumble preamp pedal along the lines of the Ampeg SGT-DI.
Fender is slated to be at NAMM this year. Really strange why they weren’t before, but that’s what’s scheduled.
“Fender and Gibson, for example, have giant meeting room spaces rather than floor exhibits – it hints at a return to the media and dealer focus of NAMMs of yore.”
@eric.kiser Fender is going more dealer interaction (the real purpose of the show) rather than the gigantic wings where there was little “dealer” interaction and immense gear space. Still a lot of brands, new products, gear, and performances from others manufacturers. The Mayones onboard preamp announcement came during NAMM last year while @MikeC 's custom was being built. A few years ago I learned of my NXT Bergantino Cab when it was a Best of NAMM product. Even not being there, it should be a great week of bass announcements and product news for us.
Well gang, NAMM was freakin’ awesome. The gear was cool… but the really cool thing about NAMM is the people. Got to meet many BassBuzz students, and also new friends, some of whom you might recognize…
Saw more famous bassists than you could shake an ebony neck at…
Also, not pictured, got to say hi to Victor Wooten, Paul Davids, SamuraiGuitarist, Rhett Shull, Philip Conrad, Sheldon Dingwall, and more.
For those of you who might be curious about going… I wouldn’t personally recommend it to a non-industry professional. I think it would have been kinda rough going in without some existing connections, cuz doing cold intros is awkward.
But if you love staring at shiny gear in a VERY loud cacophonous room, and enjoy waiting in line to awkwardly take a photo with Joe Dart, you might have fun.
But we could have waited awkwardly to take a photo with you, @JoshFossgreen
If I could meet You and IMA in one go , i won’t hesitate to take a plane ticket !
Hope you got to meet Marcus Miller, @JoshFossgreen. Folks say he’s a very approachable dude.
Wait. Hold on.
@JoshFossgreen, you went to NAMM, down here in Anaheim, CA, and you didn’t even set a time to do a dinner or something with your local and loyal BassBuzzers? Or to deliver our BassBuzz t-shirts?
For shame.
@JustTim we all met last Thurs… never mind.
