Apple music vs. spotify?

ive never had an issue with connection. i wasnt aware that specific apps could have poor connection issues, i thought that would just be down to the broadband or router and be the same for everything. every days a schoolday

with regards to no app for the PC, i just log into my account on the website and play from there if i so wish, altho i never feel the need as ive always got my phone with me which i stream to a chromecast audio through hifi speakers.

I am a quality freak, so I have rippped my +/- 4000 CDs to FLAC and purchased many FLACs as downloads (mainly from Bandcamp).

All my FLACS are converted to M4A in high quality for ā€œon the roadā€ listening. Got about 115k songs on my mobile phone (= 880GByte), so that’s that!

Streaming s#cks!

We switched from spotify to deezer in august, because other options didn’t have niche swiss hip hop stuff I listen to and thinking it’s based in france. Turns out the CEO is an ass too, so we’ll switch to qobuz soon. Also started to buy songs/albums on bandcamp and looking for replacement and modding parts for my ipod classic

Ah - tell me more! I just found two old ipods in my storage and don’t know what to do with those…

The long story: I had one as a teen I LOVED TO DEATH that got stolen in a ski hut. I then replaced it with something cheaper and made a passive-aggressive rating that made it to the billboards:

Then I saw a good second hand deal with a dead battery and thought ā€œI’m an electronician, I can fix thatā€. I could not, the housing is completely messed up and I broke the screen somehow while moving. Soooo I’m thinking about 3D printing a new housing, adding bluetooth and usb-c port and of course replacing the broken screen sometime in the future / when the bluetooth board is available again.

I’ve been using Deezer for like forever on my PC (Windows) using a dedicated app.

I have it on my phone, PC and a Samsung version for my TV. The worst experience is with the Samsung app, but it does what it needs to do

Apart from Deezer, I use YouTube as well.

I quit using iTunes - and Apple products - a long time ago because their DRM was messing with my legally acquired music :person_shrugging:t3:

Seems to be part of the job description

Hey @sadexpunk yeah that’s what I did but I have high security on my browser and logging in every time was just getting to be a pain…. I’m not sure why I was having connection problems - I. don’t get any with the others. I suppose that Mordor has a good server infrastructure :slightly_smiling_face:

yeah :smiling_face_with_tear: I read an article that expecting CEOs, bankers etc. to have moral deficits is part of the problem. They can pull off shit because we don’t expect better. So I’m really happy that with spotify ppl seem to consequently act by leaving, not like with whatsapp (here in switzerland at least), where everyone know’s that the service has huge safety issues and we still use it as default.

Hmm maybe there is one, but for some reason I was logging in to the web. Maybe they’ve updated the app since then? I really would like to use a European service but they just aren’t at the same scale as the US ones…..

Well, to log into the app, you need to go through a browser login…

They probably should fix their programming

But I’d guess that good PC UX is even less important than updating a smart TV app :joy:

I didn’t read all the comments, but I already have Amazon Music from Prime and yahoo music because I pay for no ads on YouTube. Also my truck came with an XM trail and I’ve been hooked ever since. I won’t add Apple again because I lost my music catalog in a laptop or phone upgrade years ago.

But the Swiss invented Threema (and cuckoo clocks) - don’t you use that?

Well, Threema is pretty unknown, some goes for Signal :person_shrugging:

The good thing about WhatsApp is that I can’t be bothered to travel to the US anytime soon

Same here!

Though I expect US authorities to know everything about me anyway:

My girlfriend (being East German) feels right at home with all those recent developments overseas

I have like 5 messenger apps installed, it’s very annoying. I feel like someone should develop something where you can access all messengers in one app (~ like ms outlook), then ppl could adjust more easily maybe?

I feel like everyone feels safe because we write in our very local swiss german dialects :joy:

I worked for a few years in Switzerland (Biel, the most boring city there).
Always fun to read Swiss ā€œGermanā€ emails, cause there are no rules

My favourite Swiss word: ā€œChuchichƤschtliā€!

PS I always asked myself, why the French Swiss speak and write perfectly and the ā€œGermanā€ Swiss do whatever they feel like??!

heeeeey Biel is my hometown and it’s the best city ever! :face_with_steam_from_nose::joy: I really miss having a billingual city and the ā€œchessuā€ /coupole is the best place ever for concerts and partys. Also perfect place for mountainbiking.

French people wouldn’t agree with you, swiss french has some weird words too and I think we count differently
But it doesn’t get as bad as some dialects
