Are short scale basses a problem for dropped tunings?

I am thinking about picking up a Sire U5 which is a short scale bass (30") and my only concern is I like to play a lot in eb tuning. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with this and know if its ok to do with the already lesser string tension.

Any thoughts?

TIA

No, not a problem. String tension is controlled by the gauge of string you choose to use. If you feel that the strings that the new bass comes with are too floppy, just get thicker strings.

No problem it’s just half step down. I also like the more relaxed tension on the short scale. If you are concern or sensitive to tension then you can get the high tension version of the strings or bigger gauge like @Korrigan suggested.

Nope. I play a G&L short scale that drop tunes just fine.

I keep my Gretsch G2220 tuned down for grunge fun. No problems here.
