Bad day

Don’t have kids @Mktony32 but I remember being a teenager. I feel your pain.

I’m a girl Dad. One is 27, the other one is turning 30 the first week of May. Both girls are awesome. Both with very different levels of drama when they were teens. My two favorite ages have been when they were 18 months old, and now (being an empty nester is freakin rad).

Being Dad to two grown ass adult women is so, so cool. You don’t have to set the example anymore, even though you’re Dad and they still run to you for advice, you can make dumb jokes (they laugh now) and curse like a sailor. When they do come to you with problems a neat thing happens. You remember when you were their age, having the same problems and going to your parents for help, and how you wish you would have listened. Then you think of them when you were their age. Plus, its really cool watching these people that you made travel through life doing grown up stuff.

Hang in there. It gets soooo much better. Be kind, be empathetic, but keep in mind that they’re trying to figure out who they are right now. They’ll try on lot’s of different hats before they get there. The things that are all important and all consuming now aren’t going to matter to them in a few years. They’ll be someone completely different.
