wow… zZounds: Ibanez SR1305SB Premium - Get it by Dec 23rd o.O
Pic is from Sweetwater:
SR Premium
i’ve always been kinda shocked at the price vs quality from those high end ibanez.
It’s Comcastic!
They are truly great instruments for a midrange price.
Ibanez Premium SR: Made from so many pieces of wood it’s impossible to nail down the tonewood
“First up comes an ash/flamed maple/bubinga body with an eye-grabbing flamed maple/bubinga top that serves up a balanced, resonant tone. The body is bolted to an ultra-playable 5-piece panga panga/purpleheart neck with a birdseye maple fingerboard.”
Ibanez Soundgear is a solid line
Love thy Ibanez.
Is Myung’s silver like that? Now I need to go look.
edit: first pics I found were silverish but looked more like Starry Sky
Bon-go bon-go bongo bee-bong-bong go.
But anyway, 6-strings are easy to learn, imo. A little more effort to mute (but at the same time, not really, for me at least; but my thumb is always moving with my hand across the strings).
It’s just a few more notes on the top end in a given position compared to a 5 or 4. Not super useful for the money area, imo, but fun if you get into melodic playing. The wider neck is a non-issue for this unless you really just feel the need to play the upper notes on a super fat .125+ string
But that’s just my take on it. It’s not all that hard to play on the 6th/low B string down near the headstock, imo.
Up until this release i think the myung only came in black.
Yeah i forgot he played bongos even before his sig model came out. I’m not the biggest fan, he’s immensely talented but his playing doesn’t really move me.
Apparently I like the Bongo more with 5+ strings.
I would say I appreciate Dream Theater more than really get in to them, yeah. If I had found them when I was a little metalhead that would be different though.
But both Myung and Rudess are fantastic. Everyone in the band is, but those two stand out to me.
Same for me. It’s not really the kind of music I listen to but just watching them play is amazing. Myung is a (technical) beast and John Petrucci and Mike Mangani/Portnoy are among the greatest imo.
Those drummers
That’s an epic fingerboard.
Surprisingly 6 strings is not harder to play. I found that the transition from 4 to 6 is much smoother than 4 to 5 strings. I do pay more attention to switching to 6 strings.
That’s the only reason I listen to them as the bass lines are way outside my wheelhouse, lol.
Love that split wood fingerboard.
What a great idea
