I’m leaning towards spec’ing Dirty Green and Eye Poplar for my gestating, long-taking custom build, like on the @booker_t-christened Medusa 2.0.
I’m not buying another (third) Mayones.
At least…

I don’t even wanna know where the jack goes
Same. Don’t use a tweed cable on this bass…
I am very pro-fanned fret. Love my multi-scale bass to no end. It’s a joy to play and you get the added bonus of the optical illusion that makes the neck looks like it’s twisted.
You already know. Lol
I’m puzzled by several design choices here (Jack placement is one of the few things that sadly makes sense).
This is the first and most important question. They should have started here and then stopped immediately after
If you have to ask in the first place then there’s no way to ever explain it.
i actually did buy this bass. wasn’t too terribly heavy. no neck dive. sounds great! feels great! beautiful finish!
an unfortunate thing occurred with it in it’s first 4 months. one of the tuning machines broke during a string change. tuner kept turning freel, but i just couldn’t get the string tuned to D. just a few cents off no matter what. eventually the whole thing made a pop sound and thought i broke my string. the tuning peg actually broke and spun around in the tuning machine.
very much under warranty at that point. fender told me that they can’t get me a new tuning machine because it was a custom order for this bass from Gotoh and they have no stock. hardware is a custom black nickel finish and you can’t get it anywhere. Fender warranty support was telling me they’d send me a single non-matching tuning machine or a set of non-matching tuning machines.
i was really disappointed to hear this and fought back as it totally ruins the aesthetic. Fender has agreed to let me take all the hardware off the bass to keep as spares and send the body and neck back in for a new bass. happy we’re coming to a good solution, but sad to see my first bass go.
Wow. That is total BS that they didn’t bother to stock warranty spare parts. Unless, they’ve used them all up with many fault tuners.
Wow. I’d be really pissed.
Nice collection. What’s the one with the flowers?
What Mike said. I got it for my 10th anniversary gift from my wife. It is a custom multiscale (33.5 to 35”) with Sakura inlays (cherry blossoms).
European swamp ash body with mahogany top. Maple neck and ebony fingerboard. Bartolini pups and preamp
That’s beautiful. Congrats. And give your wife a big hug.
Yeah, I was little taken aback by it too. I was considering banishing fender products from my home for a while. I’m glad they accepted my request, but I’m still a bit uneasy with their warranty now.
What about all those paranormals that squire was pushing a few months ago? Hope they got spares for all those.
Congrats
That’s one of the best looking ones I’ve seen in quite some time. Is the selector switch for coil split?
