Ah I wondered if that was a small control on the pickup. I like minimalist!
Sure looks like something.
Generally a preamp with some EQ is mounted on the side of an acoustic bass.
Is that one acoustic? I wondered but the lack of a sound hole⌠My electro acoustic has tiny bass and treble controls (and tuner) on the top side. Right fiddle. I prefer the Ibanez!
Technically, the definition of an acoustic isâŚ
a guitar that does not require electrical amplification, having a hollow body that amplifies the vibrations of the strings.
So a lot of times, we abbreviate âacoustic/electricâ or AE with acoustic, simply out of laziness. The hole only helps give the sound volume, however, while this is fine on a guitar, on bass the hole doesnât to much of anything to amplify the sound, which is why they are almost always âAEsâ.
So not really acoustic anyway.
Not an acoustic. Itâs a Rob Allen Mouse short scale fretless.
Hereâs the description:
Rare handmade Rob Allen Mouse 30" fretless bass. This little bass plays and sounds fantastic. Its smaller, lighter weight body makes it comfortable to play for hours and the neck has a really nice feel. The Rob Allen Mouse short scale bass is packed with tone despite its smaller, more comfortable design and it sounds amazing. The Fishman electronics have an upright bass type of sound in a much smaller package.
gonna put this in the short scale thread, nice
Kind of how I feel about the Manson John Paul Jones signature bass. WAY too expensive, but sure fun to wish for.
This arrived today. It also happens to be my birthday, this made a good day so much betterâŚ
Itâs a mid sixties Harmony H22 bass. I have wanted one of these for years. A few years ago, I bought a reissue, but it was a major disappointment. It was nothing like the original.
I have been working on building a Moonshine Custom replica (tribute?) of the H22, I have a friend who owns one and I took measurements of it and have designed my own version. Itâs an interesting instrument.
I own several vintage hollow body basses, but this Harmony is magic. The opening riff of âGimme all your lovinâ by the Spencer Davis Group says it all. https://youtu.be/ko3m0NBbq1o?si=2V4YwpgWwPYP5TxG
Iâm really into Americana music and this will fit the bill nicely. I rarely buy basses these days, but I couldnât pass this one up.
Congrats, @Moonshine. Itâs beautiful.
And my birthday was yesterday. No basses appeared, though.
Gorgeous
Nice looking bass @Moonshine ,
Here is a pic of the 2 I own.
1 original and the other has had new tuners on it.
They both have flats on them and are great playing basses.
Hope you enjoy yours,
Cheers Brian
There is one sitting on a workbench in Poland with your name on it
Happy birthday @Moonshine
Thatâs gorgeous
From your lips to Godâs earâŚ
UhâŚno. Wash your mouth out with soap, Joerg!
Other than a passing similarity of pups configuration with my impending custom build, wellâŚenough said.
Well, the pups is where itâs at
The quality of pups is where itâs at.
