Hey @DaveT and @joergkutter - they made a new model for 2024

No way! Time to start selling some things.

It’s just under $2k.

That’s actually rather pretty even with the pick guard… but of course it is. The Japanese were always fabulous artisans.

Though I don’t currently own a MIJ instrument I’m pretty partial to the local stuff, yeah

Deviser makes fantastic instruments across all its brands for sure.

Looks like they have Sakura models across their other lines too this year, there’s a couple Momose that look great too.

They only made 10 of these. About $2500.

Looks like they are just making 20 of the Bacchus too. Or rather, specifically, there are only 20 listed on the site; they may do subsequent runs, no idea.

They just changed the shipping date on the Dingwall John Taylor Signature from October to June on Sweetwater. I looked right after my YouTube feed showed me a Dingwall short that said “shipping now.” Pre-ordered a while back but committed now. Into the GAS Breach! EDIT: Just realized it says JUNE 2025! What?! OK- time to move on from Sweetwater, haha.

That’s a stunner, @howard!

@DaveT - you should seriously look into this!

Mine is a 5’er, and while I own more 5-string than 4-string basses, there are extended periods where all I touch/play is a 4-string :joy:

This one is tempting, but I really don’t need it (I know, I know), and also buying from Japan to Europe is too expensive (on account of shipping, taxes and customs).

Has anyone tried the Ibanez SR Ironlabel? Been eyeballing it as a ‘I can’t quite justify spending $3k on a dingwall but my poor yammy is not so amused when I down tune it to B / Drop C for half my set list every night.’

Enough time to save

I was going to buy the BTB605MS… which is a bigger brother… but landed in the BTB806MS… I am extremely happy with my bass.

I think Dingwalls are FOTM overhype. They are good… but double the price of my Ibby… sorry but no.

My brain is a bit confused atm

It’s not so much that, it’s more that once you get past the $1000-$1500 price point you start to run in to diminishing returns for all brands. Yamaha and Ibanez are no exception; the BBP34 is better than the BB734A in passive mode, but twice as good? No, more like 10%.

Well, except the color. Those blues are stunning

Made me jealous, that’s what you’ve done ! I can’t justify another purchase….

Clearly, we’re all entitled to a view. Mine is that they play beautifully, look fantastic and make me feel good when I pick it up.

Ibanez MS look good, but I fear I’d always prey to the inner voice that whispers, but it’s not what you actually wanted…

Yeah. SR’s (especially the Premiums) are outstanding, some of my favorites really, but if you really want a Nolly, get a Nolly.
