Congrats @bdumais15 !
SWeet!!
Very nice, I love those Pau Ferro fretboards.
And it’s a 4, which is actually what JT plays most of the time
Fantastic bass! Dingwalls rock!!
Nice looking SBV-550 up locally for about €475
@Al1885 - I just remembered Toby was trying to sell his (a nice looking red one) before he reported in, no idea if he did though; @Reasonably_Happy might know.
I find that very challenging……
Classics with a large cult following, basically my favorite bass. I have an SBV-800MF. Best sounding pickups I have ever found.

Here’s the model I have in action (it’s her signature model):
He has one? I don’t remember that. That’s a looker for sure. I have to confess I just bought another bass.
We’re all just as shocked as you are.
I know much of it is lighting but man that’s sexy.
This is BIG!! I’ll alert the media.

Ok I didn’t plan for it. I just pre ordered the 6 string Squier with my GC rep and the next thing I know my rep said you know that used Fretless I can put it in for you, I said if it comes with the bag why not. Without missing a beat he said I’ll drop ship a Gator bag for you. I said ok go for it,
I always wanted an upright sound, wait I already have an upright ha ha.

It’s only a cool $10.5K, Al.
Not including any lighting or the glass museum enclosure it richly deserves.
Those basses are certainly polarizing. I have a visceral reaction to just about everything about them. But I’m glad there’s something out there for every taste.

I have never found any middle opinions about them, yeah, people either love or hate them, and the cult following is large but for sure not the majority. I (obviously) love their looks and offbeat quirkiness. Then again I have never really been much of one for tradition when it comes to instruments.
The funny thing is they are also some of the best made instruments I have ever played. Made in Taiwan, and very good even by Yamaha standards. In context they are as good or better than any MIA Fender I have picked up.
I especially love the pickups in these things, particularly the P pickup. I like them more than any aftermarket pickups I have heard.
It hurts a little, I love Yamaha’s stuff. I kinda loathe the look of those things. If they either fixed the headstock or the shape of the body it would elicit less of a visceral response I think. As is, kinda wish they put those pickups in something less fugly.
