Sweet! How does it play?

I’d really like hear what you think of this bass. I have seen a lot of reviews, but they’re all from people I don’t know, would like your thoughts after you play it a while.

I have only played it for few minutes so far, and won’t touch it again until Xmas.
I like it, it has mystery roundwounds on it at present which give a good sound (I am used to flats and will likely change them), the neck is quite thick which I am not used to but also don’t mind-feels good to me.
Feels solid and like quality in the hands, controls are smooth to use, has a gig bag and a spare pickguard.
Finish and fit are good, no complaints and the colour is great.

I love the purple!

In an odd way it’s sorta funny that it says “Orange” on the headstock :stuck_out_tongue:

Uh… no… Purple.
Hella sexy bass tho!

Apparently I got a package from Italy.

Edit: Just saw the Sweetwater sticker. Do I really need to wait 24 hours to crack open the box? I wasn’t planning on playing it until tonight to let it acclimate but I was hoping that I could at least take it out and look at it.

@howard here’s some glamour shots of the new BB. I put it next to my G&L which is “Irish Ale” colored. They’re similar in person, the BB has more red to it than the G&L but nobody’s going to confuse it for the fire engine red that the BBPH is. Being into more classic looks, I like that you can see the wood under the clear coat. I got a 3.5" Levy’s leather padded strap with the suede underneath for this one. I like the neoprene gruv gear one but it’s kinda bulky so decided to go leather this time around. I’ve got a comfort strapp coming for Xmas so if I don’t care for the Levy’s, I can toss it on my Reverend (7.5 lbs).

ok it’s been a while since I have heard that one

Hey faydout
I have a couple G&L questions that perhaps you could help me with?
I’m looking at 2003 SB2 not a tribute.
Its in great shape actually excellent shape with original case.
SB2 with 2 volume knobs without a tone control.
Its super pretty with a maple neck that I see few of in those years.
Do you have any thoughts on this bass? Is it worth?..
The owner is firm at $1100 USD.

After Yamaha’s, G&L’s are probably my next favorite basses. I’m a big fan of their MFD pickups, which the SB-2 doesn’t have being a PJ. That said, their bridges are the best imo and even the tributes are really well made. Looking at Reverb, I found an American '03 SB-2 for right in that price range so it seems like a fair price as long as it’s in good shape. @Al1885 I believe has an SB-2 and he could probably give you more info about the pickups and feel of that model.

Thanks for the input.
That bass is about 3 hours from me, that’s likely how I’m controlling the gas attack.

You have to wait for the real date !
