I gave it about 2 before I pulled it out of the box. I didn’t play it until after I’d run errands and walked the dogs. I’m really glad I didn’t buy it until now. This doesn’t feel like a “beginner” bass. LOVE the 38mm nut and 10" radius. I’m still figuring out the preamp and EQ for it. I’ve got it set now kind of the opposite of how I have the EQs set on my DI box. If I crank the mids and treble, I get too much string scraping. If I can dial in the right one, I’ll try and get one of the covers I’ve got queued up and waiting for this bass done tonight.

It’s not 
The 234 and 434 work fine for beginner basses but there’s more going on with the 734a. Even though it’s not more complex than the TRBX504, it is more of a handful and the 40mm nut and slightly chunkier neck profile is more substantial than the J-sized TRBX’s.
One thing I found is that the farther i got in my bass journey, the more I appreciated this; 40mm is now my favorite nut width by a lot.

I keep screwing up my metric to imperial. I know it’s 1.57" but keep thinking that’s 38mm for some reason. Chunky, one of the things I really like so far is that it feels so svelt and lean through the neck. Granted, I’m used to P bass style necks. Getting an EQ setup that like is proving a bit of a challenge right now. Everything is exaggerated with it. Plucks, slides, the sound I’m getting from effect pedals. I’m having to rework settings on everything.

This could also be the inherent brightness of the D’Addario rounds contributing, if you are used to flats or less bright rounds.
