@Al1885 - surely you donât have a bass like this:
Why???!
The guy playing is Markus Setzer. The dude that came over to test my fretless mod is one of his pupils.
I have to admit that those Valvebuckers sound like from a different planet, compared to my fretless
He has one Stream in stock, neck-through, with the Valvebucker pickup. Almost 7400 âŹ. Good thing itâs a long scale, or Iâd have a serious case of GAS.
Iâm going to stick with the Delano pups on my Lignum Spring 5-string fretless shorty, but now I need to come up with a different Lignum build that uses a Valvebucker. I bet Gustav would be all over that idea. In fact, Iâm going to send him an email with a link to the Valvebucker and see what kind of shorty he can come up with. More GAS!!!
EDIT: I thought the phone number looked like it was from the same country, but +358 (Valvebucker) is Finland. Gustav is from Croatia (+385).
Otherwise talk to Harry HĂ€ussel directly. If he made the PUs, he surely knows somethig about getting the Valves too. I heared he is a nice chap that is always open to ideas!
But: Ruokangas seems to be a great guitar builder. I spent some time on their web site now, and he has a very cool approach to building basses.
Also, look at the pictures of their basses and guitars - that stuff is perfect!
Does Harry HĂ€ussel make the Valvebucker pickup and interface pedal, or does Ruokangas? If Harry makes them, I need to send Gustav at Lignum an update, and have him contact Harry directly. I told Gustav that I want a short scale bass with a Valvebucker and flatwound strings, and everything else was up to him.
"The pickup itself is a humbucker made in Germany by Harry HaĂŒssel, which is designed to work with the active electronics. "
I guess he only makes the PU. Still I would talk to him.
He is bound to know more ⊠and Ruokangas might not be eager to talk to a competitor.
Though my punky-funky luthier (who is also a custom guitar builder) cooperates with Marleaux, so maybe guitar builders are open for new ventures?
$7400 not too bad for a Tony Stark pickups. I can live with the 12v ac power requirement, never mind that the bass also requires the accompanying pedal.
The only thing that holds me back is the 20 year warranty. Thatâs not acceptable
Yeah, I doubt that theyâll trust you with the Arch reactor technology,
Itâs not the most unique tone ever been produced. it just looks so unique, and thatâs that.
If you want that tone, it can easily replicate at a fraction of the money, RayRoss bridge, Optima Unique Studio gold, EMG Gold Les Claypool pickups.
This combo would yield the brightest and most sparkling tone.
Another good straight up option would be the stainless steel set on a Bongo with Piezo pickup.
