Like the aesthetics on this one, but not a big fan of fanned frets (that came out weird)…
Very, very nice Jabba.
Pale Moon Ebony works on some designs, but it’s too much on this fretboard for my taste. However, it’s a Mayones custom build, so anyone can choose to spec it however he/she wishes. To each his own.
I was browsing Reverb late last night and came across this listing - had the exact same reaction. It’s like stripes and polka dots, or two other things that are fine individually but don’t go together well. IMHO, of course, to each their own and no kink shaming.
Yep, same here.
it’s a lot but personally I really love it.
omg its totally a Narwhal
@howard Got a question, hardware wise what’s the difference between the BB300 like I’ve got and a BB800? I’m looking at an 800 right now in burgundy. The bridge and tuners have been replaced but tbh those are the first things I’d consider replacing on my 300. Would one be worth $700 (double the price of a 300) in your opinion? Not that my 300 is going anywhere, I’m just apparently collecting vintage BBs now.

I don’t actually know but I am guessing it’s much like their later models where the increasing number for the same model year is just with better woods, electronics and hardware. For the vintage ones it can be tough.
And of course sometimes that also breaks down completely (i.e. the BB2000 and BB2024, which were decades apart, with neither number being related to model year.)
If they’re original, the pickups do look different. The 300’s are nato and from what I can find, it looks like the 800s are alder. That burgundy is really pretty… I’m gonna bookmark this one for now (hasn’t sold in a bit yet) and chew on it for a few weeks. If it’s meant to be, it’ll be. I’ll also need to just admit to myself that I’m not getting rid of any and buy another guitar rack.
Went into Andersons, in Guildford, U.K., yesterday. This was on the wall. A cool £2,400.
Me likie!
Me no have the cash though
Got some random shots of interesting stuff from when I was hanging out with Josh.
Not sure if this is Japan only but for a beginner bass I love the finish on the new Ibanez GSR’s:
@sunDOG, if you ever take up guitar, the price on the Steinberger Spirits (about $300) is pretty awesome:
Love the finish on this Bacchus:
Even though I chose not to buy one, I can’t stop taking pics of the new BB colors - just outstanding. Those two Indigo Blues are the same color, shows how dynamit it is to the light, and the translucent red is just amazing:
I will always love the mad bastards at Ibanez that get to choose SR Premium finishes:
New brand I hadn’t heard of, nestled in with some unremarkable Sadowsky’s.
Some Patitucci’s just to make Jörg buy a new one:
The normal pile of Black Smokers they always have, now with Misa’s signature model:
A hero shot of Josh’s new bass as we spotted it in the wild:
Not bad for a MIJ Sago! It’s a special model produced as a line by the bassist of a local band.
All of these pics… My bass collection recently went from 6 to 5. I’m thinking about trying to sell my 60s vibe P and trying to grab a Sire Marcus Miller of some flavor. I also noticed how nice the Ibanez line is looking now but I don’t think I want one of those new.

and the translucent red is just amazing
Yes, yes it is.

Some Patitucci’s just to make Jörg buy a new one:
Haha, not going to happen (anytime soon). I still have a bass in the pipeline, which isn’t even paid for yet…
I am resisting your powers, GAS warlock!!

I’ve always loved the whole aesthetic of the Steinberger! It’s almost tempting to try to learn more than a few chords on a guitar, bust to buy one!
i wouldn’t actually want one but i’m really fascinated by what strandberg is doing these days. one of the more innovative designs out there. i wonder if the neck shape will catch on/trickle down to any other basses.
