Bass Porn

It’s at ¥75k and they usually go for ¥50k or so.

How often do they show up there?

Also, I’m debating selling my Reverend to make room for an SB-5A.
As in, about to go mow the grass, then get dressed to head down to Music Go Round possibly.

Pretty uncommon but not unobtainable. I know of another one on the market too but it’s kind of thrashed.

Wow. If they have an SB-5A you should definitely consider it. I love the SBV’s and the SB’s were the vintage version, MIJ and quite rare.

Miki Furukawa has a SB-7a in this video:

Play it from the timecode so you miss Dave Spector’s dorkfest intro.

(Holy crap Supercar is young in that video. That album was in 1998 so they would have been 18 or 19.)

Unfortunately I think I just fried both of my MXR preamps 10 minutes ago messing around with the FX loop coming off of my GX-10. I must have bumped something because they don’t power up off the 48V from my mixer now (did check the 48V switch on the mixer), do power on plugged into my power supply but no sound. I pulled out my spare DI’s and they work fine with the same cabling. It’s relevant because I would have sold off my SGT-DI with the reverend for that SB.

oof

Don’t feel bad. I fried my Tech21 VT Bass DI 24 hours after getting it

It’s a PITA because the whole reason for getting those MXRs was to reduce size on my board. The only thing I dislike about the SGT is that it’s frikkin huge. I’ll limp along for now wwith my SGT and BDDI but I might have to invest in a pair of JDI’s and run them straight off of 48V.

Incidentally before I forget here’s the other one I was mentioning. It looks like they had some kind of hinomaru sticker on the back or something, so… pass. Even though it’s in Hooky Red.

it’s listed at about ¥15k less than the dark red burst one (which is the color I actually want more), which is still on the high end. I would go check it out but it’s in Dotonbori (Osaka).

That sticker wouldn’t hold me back at all. Especially in that red. I’m looking at the selling agent now but I would definitely have to cannibalize my collection at this point. My wife wasn’t thrilled with what I spent on bass stuff this weekend. If it’s still there in 2 weeks I may just have to email the agent.

I made a fair offer on the one on Mercari. We’ll see. Here it is if you want to follow up on it too with the agent.

That’s only $541 US btw. I’d just buy it now if I were you.

Yes, that’s why I sent it to you

I offered him about $400 (the same as the one on Second Street). It’s still high but (barely) fair.

I think I like the Mercari website more than 2nd street being in the US and trying to get an instrument sent here.

Yeah they serve very different needs. Second Street is a brick and mortar used goods store; Mercari is more like eBay for Japan (along with Yahoo Auctions, which is IMO much worse).

I swear my finger slipped. Twice. On different pages.

I got him to knock 10k off it. Final price was around $450 equivalent.

Freakin awesome! Once you get it some time with it, I’d love to get a few sound clips. They look like the same P pickups that are in my 300, I’m really interested to hear how they sound at the bridge.

It’s karma… but the good one

Congrats!!

(I wonder how that second P pup sounds… so close to the bridge!?!)

I bet some Jaco lines would work it.

Fat chance of that ever happening, though. :joy:

This is the 2nd bass I’ve been able to play the part of the little red guy on your shoulder for, isn’t it? :joy:
