ESP Grassroots Hyper F-Series.
Very nice looking instrument, burl top, neck through, string through, 18V preamp and pickups, individual saddle bridges.
Plus it’s an ESP F-series which automatically makes it cool.

It’s early in the morning, but I can’t remember ever seeing Jazz bass pickups positioned like that. I wonder what it sounds like.
It’s going to sound amazing. Not following a Fender Jazz sound profile. And that’s perfectly OK.

Wonder if we need a topic for merely “interesting” basses? Neither Bass Porn nor Ugly Duckling material, but worth noting? So with lack of a better place to put it, check this out.

Super interesting bass here. Looks like a P pickup, neck through, double cutaway with wide open fret access like an SG (but only 20 frets?), crown(?) inlays … and that headstock!

I think this bass or the like has been posted in the ugly duckling thread.
Seems like this post would fit well in the “A little music related fun” thread. 
Perhaps. I tend to think to think of that thread as being for jokes and such. There’s no humor implied here, just a somewhat unique instrument worthy of sharing and discussion.

I was commenting on @fennario’s post wondering about whether a new thread should be started about basses that some find interesting, but not necessarily Bass Porn.
My mention that this bass has been posted in the ugly duckling thread was for reference only.

Personally, I agree that this particular bass is interesting in its unique design and build. That said, others might not. But whatever. To each his own.

A pretty much perfect SBV-J1 came up too. Super rare, only 100 made. If I ever wanted a J, this would be it. But I don’t want a J, and they are asking too much for it.
