Hohner did a Steinberger clone? Seems out of their wheelhouse.

Absolutely! These things (well the guitar versions) were an object of lust for me back in the late 80s!

Grassroots G-T-65EL Tetsuya (L’Arc en Ciel) signature edition.

Believe it or not this is ESP’s entry level line here

Basically the domestic level equivalent to LTD.

Lovely top wood! Not sure about the location of the strap button on the upper horn.

Did anyone post this yet, the 4 string John Myung Bongo. That’s a must have, :joy:

The natural finish one on the right looks like a passive long scale Tim Commerford with the finger ramp and the old style bridge with the individual string mutes. I have the burst finish passive T.C. shorty. Great bass! I bought it ā€œusedā€ (played once and returned). It still had the protective plastic on the pickguard and pickup. [Note: that’s the seller’s couch, not mine.]

I was sure

i couldn’t play a fan fret bass. Tried a few different Dingwall models and was surprised at how natural it was. I didn’t look while playing, figured that was best. Worked. I found the Dingwall to actually be extremely playable and has amazing tone and sound. Dome of the models seem to have an inherently bright sound, which suits me just fine. Beautiful looking and awesome to play, just a bit of a hit to the wallet….

If I didn’t have over 4K € committed to Henrik at Henrix Guitars for building a 4-string Constance for me (to pair with the Constance 5 I already acquired; 1 month down, 7 more to go), I’d grab that HH in a heartbeat.

Mayones basses meet or exceed the quality of the world’s best builders, but the Mayones Jabba models are particularly outstanding in their comfort and playability.

I was offered this by my Japanese friends last week, pre-loved MIJ Fender Jaguar…….

I have a question for Jabba J-bass owners: it looks like neither of the pickups is in the standard location (ā€˜60s or ā€˜70s). Both seem closer to the neck or further from the bridge, whichever description floats your boat. Is that because it has 24 frets and I’m just overthinking it?

Haha, yeah, maybe you’re overthinking this a bit…

The Hadrien Feraud signature has (now) a 60s spacing - you can hear the man himself talk about it here (from around 8’20) - the first prototype had a 70s spacing, but later they changed it to a 60s spacing:

There’s also no rule that says Fenders is the correct placement

I have a Hagstrom Fantomen six string guitar in white and I’m not really convinced Hagstrom is worth the price, it’s okay. But I really love the body style and want the matching bass

Here’s the Hagstrom Nekromant

Isn’t this highly subjective anyway? Why stick to something somebody made in the 60s or 70s?

My friends at zzzeee Zzzeeermmaaaaan forum made a database with positions … they’re all kind of different:
