I’m so in love with these gold-detailed Ibanez basses! I remember sending a photo of a prestige Ibanez to my friend gasping about it’s beauty- and I saw that same model on stage a week later when attendingan orchestra performance on a beach while on vacation!
The pickups on the new SR3500 prestige are soooo sensitive I really have to up my muting game.
I saw the black body, & gold hardware together with the brown pickup covers and just fell in love!
I love it, what a cool shape
that’s nice!
I like the curve of the bridge. Wonder why the ball ends for the two high strings would stick out like that, though?
Really dig the shape, and the pickguard is classy. Dig it!
On first glance, I liked the curve, too, but on a second, if you lose/damage/break one of the longer springs, you may have a hell of a time finding a replacement. On the plus side, I’m a huge fan of truss rod wheels for adjustments. Nice little detail there.
Losing/damaging a bridge spring seems an unlikely edge case. Regardless, replacement springs are easily available from the luthier, upon request.
All in all, this bass features many unique and beautiful design choices that set it apart from the crowd.
You’ve never seen me try to do anything mechanical. ![]()
The other strings appear to be through the body for some reason.
I think the bass looks gorgeous, it has good lines; I think the curve of the bridge looks great visually, but the D and G strings would be shorter than the others in a perfect world. I know it matters on where the saddles are placed, but still
Ah, right you are, thanks! I was looking at the bridge as though it had a lip similar to the MM bridge and thought B through D were tucked under that, but yeah they are clearly string through and I was looking at it wrong. Still odd to see them done differently. It appears to be a conscious design decision and not just restringing inconsistency, as here’s another example of that same model:
EDIT: It’s apparently for a few reasons including balancing string tension across the instrument
Nice Jazzman.
The fretboard in particular is cool:
They want about $2400 for it, not ridiculous for a custom Masterbuilt Streamer.
I reeeeeeally wanted to love my Streamers, but they just didn’t fit me. Too bad as Warwick makes nice instruments.
Why would you do string through for three strings but not for the other two?
Just not paying attention, maybe. ![]()
