Pretty sure it was a double-buck because that’s what the dude plays. Here’s the Edwards versions:

I came across one of these VOX Sidewinders today at a local shop. Had never heard of it before. It was in really bad shape with lots of issues and some electronics issues but even so man o man the tone was out of site. It has onboard distortion that has a sound all its own. I see really good examples selling for $3000-$4000, so nothing I am buying anytime soon, but it might just be my dream hollow body for one day. I was able to also try a vintage Guild and cherry vintage Gibson EB2 as well. The VOX was by far my favorite, even in its terrible condition. And they really look cool.

Oh to add to the kookiness of this bass, it has a built in “G tuner”, which plays a G pitched tone to tune your strings to, the distortion I mentioned, treble/bass boost control, and 3 way pickup selector. The nut is aluminum and has a zero fret as well. The back of the body has a snap-on pad that protects the body from ‘belt buckles’ and other wear. It also has just about the thinnest neck on a bass ever made, was geared towards guitarists. Never heard of it until today but now fascinated.

@John_E, I wonder if the circuitry module they talk about at The VOX Showroom - Vox Sidewinder IV Bass is good on yours? From what they say at the end of the description, it sounds like the module hasn’t been available for over 20 years. Otherwise, a very nice looking bass!

Oh I didn’t buy it.
The electronics had some issues, but worked. I would guess some contact cleaner and everything would be fine. The bass had a lot of other issues thought so I did not consider it. From what I have read, there are some that have ‘sealed’ electronics and some that are open and can be repaired. If sealed, and they die, you are done.

I think I have mentioned Ikebe Gakki here orders custom Warwicks a lot and sells them. Here’s a few.

Their back room looks like it is full of goodies too.

Ikebe opened a new store in Shibuya this week so I went and took those pics. My wallet also did not leave unscathed itself. More on that in another thread

Love me a Mocking bird. B.C. rich makes some sick instruments, high quality, but mostly made to order now.

Aaaaargh. I spent years traveling back and forth to Japan for work and often found it to be an inconvenience. I wasn’t into instruments then. Sigh.

My trusty little shop over the bridge in Jersey has a Mockingbird for sale…

And, if you are looking for a bit of a more ravenous bird, this Buzzard…

I forgot to say in that last post that I love your trusty little bass store too. I have been eyeballing those pages since you first posted Bootsy’s bass.

Have a couple cool Sterlings SB14, so the Sterling version of the Sterling Bass.
He sells at good prices, not gouged, but not under value to move them, which I like. a trusty little place there.

I had thought about calling to see if they would be interested in my Ray34, from the 2010-2012 age. Its mint, and it is one of the burst colors they made with the maple neck, only a few like that. its worth some money, but non collectors, or people that don’t really know, are not interested in buying it on Offer UP, ut just looks overpriced there.
Then I alsway ask myself, do I really want to sell it, it is such a cool bass,
and then I start thinking of ways to sell it faster, then I stop adn think, do I really want to sell it, it is so freaking cool, and there are not many out there, this year and color is very hard to find, so IDk, I just mull it over and over and over and… Somebody shoves a big wad of cash in my face adn I selll it, otherwise, I pobably go thru the motions like list it on Offer up, priced firm, full description, and wait tuil somebody that wants something like that hits me up. could be a year, could be 5. I could have made a record on it my then??? How knows, thats life.

That buzzard was on a 15most video, it was 15 ugliests basses, and that one took about 5th.
I said in the comments, come on, it’s THE WHO, let them have that.

It is ugly when you are looking at it from other angles they flash on screen, but when you can just see it in a non moving picture and get a good feel for what it is.

It is still ugly as hell, but at least you can see what it is supposed to be, and that it is not ugly cuz of a bad acid trip of something.

this is an original BC Rich , infinitly better than the more modern models. The pickups are DiMarzio DP122, the exact same model I chose for Greenie. and I chose this pickup because of this exact BC Rich model.
