Hey gang! The second ever livestream goes down on Dec 14 at 6PM Pacific, 9PM Eastern, and I’m-very-sorry-o’clock for Europe and Japan.

Pedals, pedals, pedals. Let’s talk bass pedals. What pedals should you actually buy? Do you really need any? And what pedals will make you a better bassist?
Make sure your credit card isn’t within arm’s reach, because pedals are a huge GAS danger zone. (at least for me, yikes)
I’ll also share some of my favorite music with prominent use of bass pedals, and answer all your questions, pedal-related and otherwise. Hope to see you there!
I already posted this question in the YouTube chat, but I know that it can sometimes be an overwhelming overflow there, so I’ll repost it here.
Will you be discussing/covering/comparing any of the “virtual” pedals offered on the pedalboard in Logic, etc. or just actual shiny pedals that you can plug in and hold in your hand?
For years and years, I was sort of a pedal snob, feeling like plugging in directly was all I needed live. And that’s fine! That said, I’ve gotten into it recently and it’s been a game changer.
I LOVE having compression, octave and distortion live. Chorus (bass clone) is a nice touch in certain spots for a fluttery sound, but generally sounds kinda out of tune when playing with others using clean tones.
Here’s my setup! I’ve since flipped compression and octave in my chain (so right to left it now goes tuner, compression, octave, distortion, chorus) and I like the way that sounds more.
Some discussion of plugins would be cool, agreed. Could take a look at something like Amplitube, which comes with a ton of pedal and amp/cab sims, so you’re not tied to the builtins from any specific DAW.
Could be a long answer, but a lot of preference. I like individuals for fun-ness WAY WAY more. Some multi units are kind ‘jack of all, master of none’, but some are amazing like Eventide H9 of course.
Yeah ugh it sucks. I use a Templeboard and the adhesive is constantly failing, thinking of switching over to Velcro. The alternative to either - zip ties! Not so secure/permanent, but good for trying stuff out without commiting.
Works, but only if it’s a really good one, like TC Electronic or Petersen. No Snarks allowed on my gear.
