There, I gone and done it, I signed up today, after becoming a member here about a week ago. Being completely self taught on the bass, I look forward to having some proper guidance that will hopefully also instill the self discipline, I know I can be lacking.
What also made me decide to sign up, is the overwhelming positive reviews that BB has become. I hope to become one of them myself! Today is the first day in the rest of my life.
This will be best money you ever spend for playing bass.
Thatās a solid investment. Pretty hard to go wrong with it. The money spent here and the time learning playing fundamentals pays huge dividends. I would have considered this course a value at three times the price.
Just Finished!!.. Took me a while thoughā¦but definitely the bestā¦!!! Learned a lot from the basics to the masterclass stuff. @JoshFossgreen, your way of teaching is so inspiring. Will keep practicing and strive to improve myself. ā¦keep rockingā¦
Congratulations @miyurujphp !
I finished the Beginner to Badass course last night and I can say with absolute certainty that it was the best thing Iāve spent my time and money on in a very very long time. I bought a bass a few months ago because Iāve always wanted one to mess around with and I didnāt even know about BassBuzz at the time, but Iām so glad that I found the website and Youtube channel when I was searching online for a good budget bass amp. I finished the course in about 2 months and the only thing I wish for is more! I will definitely continue to support the Youtube channel and will be back here if/when a new course drops. Thanks a lot Josh for making every lesson a fun experience for me. I really canāt recommend the Beginner to Badass course enough.
Just finished the course, and I have to say, Iām super impressed. Everything about this course was top quality and extremely professional. Joshās style is amazing, and his design for this course is incredible. The website is great, the videos are done professionally, he explains things right down to the very basics. Simply put, he made this course almost addictiveā¦lolā¦I couldnāt wait to get home to take on the new lessons for the day. Iāve improved so much, from my playing ability to my knowledge of music to just overall feeling like I can start playing with other musicians. At least Iāll know whatās going on, even if I have to go a little slower at first. Iām just stoked and I can honestly say its the best investment Iāve made in myself in a long time. Thank you, Josh!!
@mikeotchet ā¦you described my experience exactly.
Such an amazing course. 5 stars, 10/10, whatever scale you use itās at its max. The videos are fun and relaxed. Lessons having 3 speeds of workout on top of the initial explanation of whatās going on makes you seamlessly improve without even noticing.
Wow Josh. Thank you so, so much. The B2B course has been the most awesome fun.
I am 66 years old and have played acoustic guitar for ever. This may have given me a leg-up in some ways, but also several bad habits to lose! Until I started this course I had never even picked up a bass. It is astonishing how much progress I have made and, saying it again, how much sheer fun I have had.
You are a very good teacher and it is enjoyable to spend time with you. I am very impressed by how you have structured the course. I only very occasionally - maybe twice - found myself feeling ever so slightly dismayed/discouraged. It quickly passed and on I went. You gave great advice and encouragement about how to deal with those moments. The really remarkable thing is that, truly 99% of the time, I was having a blast.
Sign me up for your next course, I canāt wait!
Hugs,
Sue
I was already teaching myself bass by simply playing online tablature of Rush songs as best I could, but this course?
I would say the thing it gave me most of, was confidence. Foundation. The kinks were ironed out and I trust myself to build my bass-playing ability using everything I learned from this course to reach the stars!
Josh is an incredible teacher because of how much fun he makes learning. Heās not boring or strict, nor tells you to do something he himself is unwilling to do. The course was very enjoyable, and worth every penny I paid.
Josh, this course is honestly phenomenal. It is organized so perfectly that made learning feel easy. I never felt discouraged or wanted to put the bass down. None of the videos felt too short or too long. Your humor and genuine, pure-hearted nature made the videos so much more engaging. You have an overall amazing philosophy when it comes to learning the bass, which you communicated perfectly through your lessons. Without enrolling in this course, I probably wouldāve been lost and discouraged in the online realm of bass playing. This course was so concise and organized that it helped me build my skills up slowly, yet effectively. In other words, your patience with students consequently makes students more patient when it comes to developing their skills. Your insane playing abilities that youāve demonstrated in videos throughout the course are insanely encouraging; they portray how many cool things are still out there that can be learned and perfected as a bassist. I found guidance in your course that I wouldāve never come across anywhere else on the internet. The title of the course is also extremely motivating because although I may have felt discouraged or weak as a result of my playing abilities, I knew I would become a āBadassā in the end. Upon completion of the course, I can confirm this is true as I have not only impressed myself but also my bandmates with how much Iāve improved since I first bought a bass. Although the lessons are completed, there are still abundant amounts of resources that youāve providedāand I thank you for that. Youāve made it clear that an individual can never truly stop learning as there are so many simple as well as complex skills that require true perfection. The fact that you apply this idea to yourself makes the learning experience feel much more realistic. Not enough words can be said about how useful you and this course have been. Youāve made me immensely more passionate about both bass as well as music. I felt a true human connection in the student-teacher relationship in this course, which is rare to find in online videos. Your astounding personality has a way of piercing through a screen and resonating with your audience. The humor, passion, and genuineness that you express are remarkably contagious. As I go off on an adventure to complete my goals, I will forever keep your tips and advice in mind. Thank you for a wonderful experience!
Glad you took the time to share your review!
This was hands-down the best online course Iāve ever taken. Josh - you have a gift for teaching and I absolutely loved this course. Your teaching style, and your humour really resonated with me and I was excited to play bass each day. I completed the course in about 7 weeks. Iām sad itās over and Iām 100% signing up for your next course as soon as itās available!
I went from never having played a fretted instrument to playing bass on stage within just a few weeks. People are amazed at how quickly Iāve progressed. And while natural talent plays a part, I tell people I had an awesome teacher.
Thank you so much Josh - I canāt say enough good things about the course.
Just finished the course after about 9 months. Guess I prolonged a bit as I did not want it to finish! The course is amazing, its structured great and I really got a lot out of it. Thanks Josh, I am excited for what lies ahead of me now.
Btw, I have seen a lot of talk about your next course but as far as I can see the talk has been going on for quite a few years. Are there any updates on this or any news? Can we really expect something? I would not think twice if you were about to put out something new!
Hi Josh,
I just completed the course and I am completely happy with it. Iāve never had musical training other than elementary school music class and I only picked up a bass briefly about 15 years ago. The lessons move along at an easy-to-follow pace and they are organized well so itās a balance of playing and learning. The videos and instruction were very helpful to me. Being able to see how you should be playing and hearing tips while youāre practicing was huge. It helped me feel more confident as I moved forward with the lessons. I also loved the manageable lesson/exercise lengths. I found myself pushing ahead and wanting to do one more lesson all the time.
The website ran fine for me. No issues with lessons or saving progress. Easy to use and reliable. Way to go IT. Ha ha. The online forum is also a gem. What a great resource for somebody, such as myself, who doesnāt know much about playing, equipment, theory, other resources, etc. Everybodyās friendly and you can pick up a lot.
I found Josh to be a good instructor in the videos (super hard to do blind into the camera, btw). Very friendly and approachable style to learning music. He was helpful and informative but not boring or longwinded. I really liked the mini-instruction where he would tell you to try something like muting on top of the exercise or give you a bit of reassurance if you were struggling. Really gives a bit of flexibility to the online lessons.
Overall, exactly what I needed to get me started. Great job and thanks for the lessons. I guess the best endorsement of your work that I can give is that I completed the lessons ahead of my three-month plan because I wanted to keep going. That and Iāve got an upgrade bass coming in the mail because Iām enjoying it so much. Thanks again, Josh and team.
Sincerely,
Jake
I second that or hundredth that or whatever. I bet there are a lot of people here that would also be interested in an intermediate course (or anything from BassBuzz, honestly). That slap bass exercise video from BassBuzz is great if youāre trying to build a practice routine for after the lessons. Iām using that and a circle of fifths chart for some exercises to learn triads in various scales around the fretboard (I saw that on a Youtube video). Then I try to learn/practice a song.
Reading this review, made me think of a very important disclaimer that need to be made
If you do B2B, youāll end up buying a new bass ā¦
Hehe, this is so true, and amp and homestudio andā¦
