Awesome testimonial! So happy for you! Welcome to the Buzzers family.
Aw man⦠whoās chopping onions in here?
So cool and motivating to read this
A part of me also doesnāt want to finish the course, but well I can always run it again
I first picked up a bass at the end of January of 2025. I was a āband geekā in HS and played the alto sax. Havenāt now touched an instrument since HS graduation almost 40 years ago! I decided that I want to do something for fun that I can share with my wife (she hates golf) since sheās a guitar player. I also had this desire to play bass in your church worship team. So, apparently marching band gave me the gift of rhythm ⦠so letās try a bass. Borrowed a bass from friends whose kid played then went off to college. Now what to do as far as lessons? I went to Guitar Center and saw they wanted $185 for an hour. Not in the budget. Books are boring for music. Searched online and a few came up. For some reason B2B looked very good and with all of the guarantees, I figured I was going to try it. Day One was 2-4-25 and I graduated today. What a GREAT course!
The whole thing was well-organized. The module followed by three reps of workouts was PERFECT. Really the only thing that flustered me was when Josh talked about fretting (use your middle here and then pinky, etc) ⦠my brain turned to mush. My literal ONLY suggestion is to have a 10s forward/back clicker to help replay. Maybe I canāt find that on my iPad (would be typical of me).
This is truly a STEAL of epic proportions for the price! Josh is clearly a gifted teacher. I canāt say how great the mix of theory and actual playing works together. The aforementioned wife is a self-taught guitar player and we were jamming with a friend who is a professional guitarist ⦠Iām asking things like āoh, is this diatonicā or ācan I just riff with a major or minor triad here?ā My wife is looking at me like I have 7 heads while the pro friend is like āwow, yeah - letās do this ā¦ā AMAZING!
I am SO full of bass knowledge for only being a little over 2 months into my journey.
As about 1000 others have said ⦠there needs to be a second course! GREAT WORK JOSH & TEAM!!!
On a computer, the arrow keys do that. Have you tried double tapping one side or the other of the screen like you do with YouTube to rewind/advance?
Around here, I think thatās the price for a MONTH of weekly lessons. So more like $50/hour.
Yep. You are correct. I just went online and looked. I guess what confused me was when I originally looked at the computer at the counter it said ā30 MIN LESSONS (cost) and 60 MIN LESSONS (cost).ā Likely the employee cheat sheet. Either way, it pushed me straight into Bass Buzz when I got home!! And THANKS for the iPad help! You can tell Iām clearly not a YouTube ābadass!ā HAHA. Wow ⦠I will use that for my 2nd pass through the B2B class. Appreciate the assist!
I did in-person lessons through a local School of Rock at the same time I was starting B2B. I was getting a LOT more out of B2B at a fraction of the cost.
Itās those damn onion ninjas again
I completed Beginner to Badass a while back, and I finally finished making a comprehensive YouTube review of the course. There is a lot of info in my review, so I think it would be worth watching if anyone is on the fence about buying the course. Josh asked me to post this here, and Iām happy to do so.
Hey @NickJoslin - I love this!
Thanks for taking the time to document all the steps.
My favorite take away from your video is the final jam you play.
The message (that I see, anyway) is - yes, show me how to play the bass and give me the toolsā¦
Because I want to play music that I love (and that rocks with fat distortion!!!)!
Cool to see how it launches you onto the thing you want to do!
All the best to you on your adventures.
After finding the YouTube channel and this forum about a year ago, I decided to go ahead and purchase the B2B course. Surely it will teach me more and it gives me a way to pay back.
However, I got stuck on the purchase page because it wonāt let me use my email, apparently because I already used it to register on this forum? Sorry if this is a bad place to ask, but how do I proceed? I imagine this has happened before.
Edit: Disregard! I got it sorted
Nice job on the review video. Kudos.
No problem. The video was a lot of work to make, but I think it was worth it given the positive feedback Iāve received. Thanks for taking the time to check it out!
For any bass beginners, this course is a no brainer. I will recommend this course over and over again! I completed this course today which is just 7 weeks from when I bought my bass and started the course! I played at my Church last sunday and had people speaking very well already of how I played! Thank you Josh and your team!
welcome sarah and congrats on having the best forum name in history
B2B is fantastic. I had never held a bass guitar, and went to Guitar Center and bought a cheap one. Signed up for B2B and started learning. I worked hard, but enjoyed the process. Josh is great, and fun. That was 4 years ago. I now play in 2 Praise Bands at churches, and I play with an accomplished guitar player (70s, 80s, 90s rock, including Bon Jovi, Nirvana, the Cars, LA Guns and many others). I play basically every day, and enjoy the practice. Still own the cheap Jackson, along with a Squier jazz, a Fender Precision, and a ESP LTD. Play through Fender Rumble amps. Iām 69 years old now, and I am loving life! Thank you, Josh, for getting me started on this musical journey.
Has anyone written a review on a day by day or progress journey, like Iām on m4, and considered that maybe I start a thread with my background and then frequent updates on my bass journey, and what I think of the lessons so far.
This thread is for reviews from people who finished the course, but please do start your own progress thread!
Finished the course today on the 19th of june 2025
Sooooā¦I must say I tried some other online paid courses but wish I had found yours early onā¦what a relief to find a course that takes you quickly but in easy steps to a beginners level.
I, as a 60yr old geeser, play lefthanded by the way, but found it easy to follow and did as you said in the courseā¦donāt linger too long on a topicā¦in the end youāll see it come togetherā¦trust me, trust Josh! It was like learning a whole new language againā¦
That last module really made it come together for me and gave me the tools, or made me use the learned tools rather, to actually feel I can contribute something in a jam session some day !
I feel I understand music somewhat nowā¦and the bass is a great instrument to start if you dont know yet what your āthingā isā¦itās got ritme itās got grooveā¦Iām sorry I got carried away there but I am so relieved I understand now! I never thought I would when I started but I am pleasantly surprised.
If anyone has any doubtsā¦donātā¦you will be happy to have done it and if anything youāll have at least have a basic knowledge of music reading and playingā¦you will be richer in experience starting some other instrumentā¦but Bass is it for me!! Worth every euro!!
Thank you Joshā¦this was a great experience and gave me lots of energy to go onā¦Cheers!!
