Best bass players of all time ranked

Not a big fan of these sort of lists as I think they’re really a personal choice thing but some may enjoy

Bet you listed this because Lemmy was on top of the page. So hierarchical speaking he stands above the rest :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Good point

Interesting list. Of course they are always subjective as 1. What is the criteria for ‘best’? and 2. We haven’t reached the end of all time yet so the best bass player may not have even been born yet.

This^^^

Absolutely correct on both counts.

“best X of all time” are just click bait articles. They’re meant to get people wound up. Why isn’t Chuck Rainey on the list? And there the arguments start. Because how can you measure art.

Well this one’s 32" x 40". If that helps?

Whenever Napoleon enters the conversation, it’s a short subject.

Yeah lists are just that list of names. It’s hard to quantify “best” best influence, skills, popularity, most recorded, most work, cheapest?

At least one of these greats should have been there.
Nathan East
Leland Sklar
Abraham Laboriel
Tony levin
Tony Jackson
Jaco, Pastorius and definitely his son has more chops
Steve Bailey
Sonny T Thompson

And that youtube guy Charles Berthoud got some skills.

These are just dudes. The ladies are even more awesome.

Peter Hook, Will Heggie, Steve Severin, Kiyoshi, Boh, many others

I did wonder if these are even compiled by bass players?

Seems to me this is just a random ad revenue article from a Sports news site. :man_shrugging:t2:

I love Flea, he’s awesome, and I am a fan as much as the next guy, really talented and hard working artist. Mad respect. But the second best bass player of all time? I doubt even he (maybe especially he) would agree.

These are basically clickbait.

My thought exactly and if they put Flea in second place what about Robert Trujillo both are heavily influenced by Jaco music they just express theirs through different genres which works so well.

The click bait worked.
