Best of Rock Bass 2023?

Can’t help you with 2023 - have not found a single album I am interested in as of yet.
Last newest uber great bass line I know of is 2022 - Lizzo - About Damn Time - not rock either, but the R&R Hall of Fame has been stretching the definition of rock for a long long time now.

Ugh not much in 2023 that i can think off either. My son got this song from Muse latest album (2022) which is a pretty fun bass line to play.

They technically don’t have a bassist, just Hayley/Taylor/Zac. Brian Robert Jones did all of the bass tracking in the studio and tours with them, but he’s not an official member.

I am probably not the best to ask for rock, but I think one or two tracks from the most recent YES album should be considered. Billy Sherwood is giving a veritable Chris Squire (if much more clean in tone):

I was just about ready to recommend a bunch of stuff from Schvitz but realized it was released late last year.

Far as I’m concerned, if it has Joe Dart playing, it’s awesome. One of my top 3 favorite bassistissis of all time.

For the official video of “I can’t Party”, it’s mostly a silly electronic release (as Vulf often do) but Joe is playing in the Live at Bonnaroo.
No idea for the second one. Still silly ^^´, but with a more … conventional approach for the bass.
Note : I was planning to do the same for Schvitz, since I only got the UK splatter vinyl edition this year through qrates, so I thought this was a 2023 release too.

They are really, really good. All music school grads, very talented, ignore their gimmick, they are a solid solid band.

I was going to reply with Po but he can learn about the pigeons later

I think they should be fined every time there’s a sick bass line in their video and it shows their singer not doing anything, or the guitarist not doing anything.
And the money would go to my new non-profit:
Bassists Are Band EqualS (BABES).
Where we are lobbying in Nashville, LA and NewYork for equal screen time for bass players.

I’m currently accepting donations.

… you should know, dues are preeettttty steep.
Lots of operation/overhead (read: coffee) costs to keep things going, you know.

I love playing this (Flowers)! I still haven’t mastered it (will I ever?) but it’s so fun to warm up with. That and Cake’s I will Survive (not this year)
