Since you’re already committed, you should add more filler. See the sunken center? There’s likely an air pocket. You need to overfill the holes then sand it down. I’d bet a few taps with a hammer will either knock out the plugs or fracture/crumble.
I definitely will let everyone know how it all works out. Again I apologize for not being completely responsive, and snapping at everyone trying to give me great advice!
I’ve been trying to fill in them tuner holes for the past two days. My gorilla butter is I came to call it ís becoming rock hard. Only time will tell if gorilla butter AKA gorilla Wood fillerb will work just as good if not better hopefully, then using actual wooden dials to take up a majority of the room. Once I get the filler to be complete completely flat and smooth, I’m going to let it sit and drive for about a week or so, before I actually pick it up and start messing with it, then when I actually go to start drilling the hole for the tuner. That will be the deciding factor of weather a 1 lb tub gorilla wood filler. Will work when you don’t have the option to buy the correct diameter dowels. I’m going to definitely try to start leaving play by play of this science experiment I’ve concocted.
I’ve been also thinking about trying to see if it’ll fit my dryer or I bought from Amazon of course soldering iron with the hot air gun attached to it. The soldering iron part doesn’t work with the heat gun definitely does. To help with an aid in the process of drying correctly. But like everything else in my head it’s just a thought. So I actually have absolutely no choice but to take care of the s*** you know!

Hey “Evil”. I did not read this whole line of posts, but I would try to find some very thin fender washers or make some washers out of some aluminum sheet. Possibly .050” thick. If you try fender washers you will have to make the hole in the washer big enough to fit the tuner. Use a washer on top and bottom. Same goes for making a washer. If you try to plug the hole, you will need to put a wood plug in it, but use some epoxy to hold it in. I would still use washers.

You talk about Fender washers for cars right? If that’s what you’re talking about I know it’s I know what Fender washers are. That thought of using Fender washers never even crossed my mind! It would definitely give it a lot more support. I got a box of washers and I got from Amazon a long time ago. They would definitely be thick enough I don’t know if the diameter of each washer will be big enough to fit that. I don’t know if the diameter of the washer would have enough meat left over for the.
What I’m working on I’m going to fill it all the way up so it’s completely level with filler to let it dry stand over it even if I scratch the black paint on the front of it so I’ll just go ahead and go over it but yeah I’ll make sure it’s completely flat and level if I can if I run my fingers over and I feel good time to add more s*** the back’s a little bumper but I got it thank you man I appreciate it
A fender washer is a big round washer usually 1” or greater in diameter, but very thin. Most have a small hole in them for a small diameter screw or bolt. I don’t know why they call them fender washers, but I do know it is not named after Fender Music company!!

I would re-drill and plug the holes with a dowel and tite bond. The filler will always shrink when completely dry (if it ever does) and could crumble.
This is absolutely the right answer, as others have pointed out. However, the OP doesn’t appear to want the right answer and seems to just want confirmation that this path is going to work. He is getting strangely acrimonious about people trying to help. I haven’t chimed in until now because I don’t think I have anything to say that will improve that situation.
But for the rest of us here, I would guess that probably the best thing is to just let him do his thing. He’s committed at this point. Our advice isn’t helping.
Doesn’t hurt to try. He will figure it out. You really just need the front to be sized correctly to hold the ferrule in place. The base of the machine post is supported by the plate.

Its all good. I am not ripping you in any way. I commend you for going at it. By all means keep us updated, you may help someone else along the way. I have binge watched Ted Woodford for over a year and he has lots of excellent advice so it is my go-to when it comes to repairs.
Howard I am listening and taking all the advice I’ve been given into thought. It’s kind of hard to install dowels. One you don’t have your own ride you have to depend on the kindness of other people to take you where you need to be or take you to do what you have to do! (I truly understand and know that my last sentence was a complete run-on sentence.) Two I live on a fixed income of $15 over $1,000 for the entire month. So I don’t have the cash to be getting the dowels to do it right. I understand that putting dowels in the whole filling it up with wood filler. Is the proper way to do things. But sometimes you have to ride Peter to pay Paul and Paul to pay the guy down the street that you borrowed 10 bucks for him to get you through the rest of the month. Also it’s more of a science experiment to see if I can if I can go if I can’t well then I know that that filling it with wood filler was not work. I truly appreciate all the advice and I don’t know why everybody is trying to come down on me it seem like I’m listening I may be hard at it and fight back a little bit but that doesn’t mean I’m actually listening and absorbing all the great advice and all the good information I have been giving over the past few days. I have to work with what I have if you ain’t got it you can’t use it you know you got to use what you have at your disposal at that moment. I’m pretty sure that I could have got on Amazon and found some dowels that would fit. His thoughts on it. You know his answer to me was. He looked at the first video. I haven’t checked to see if you looked at the second video or not. Honestly I don’t care I just was curious and just wanted the knowledge not really the advice of using wood filler to fill in them big ass holes pardon my French. When I asked about this very first time. I probably worded it wrong to where it look like I was actually asking for the advice anyway I kind of was but I was looking for more knowledge and what was your thoughts you think it would work or not and everything like that. Part of me believes that it would work. While the other 80% of me says you dumb idiot it’s not going to work like you think. And go that way which is what I did on my G Larry acoustic electric bass when I first got it I didn’t like the tuners and I end up having to flip the E and A string tuner around so instead of turning it counterclockwise to tune up and counterclockwise to tune down. It was the other way around clockwise you tuned it up and counterclockwise you would tune it down. I really truly sorry I’m very apologetic if I offended anybody or anything like that. Because there was not my intentions at all I just had a thing pop in my head and was curious what other people thought about my idea not really more of the advice from other people which I do truly and greatly appreciate all that great advice and knowledge I’ve gotten from y’all. So thank you I definitely appreciate it or like I said it was more of an experiment. And speed up the drying process I’m going to use my generic soldering heat gun station. And heat up they would fillers instead of waiting the week or so to really find out if it’s going to dry and if it’s going to crack or what it’s going to do. Because honestly neither one of us really truly know what it will do I mean you got a lot more knowledge of it and experience with it then I do probably which I truly honestly believe that. But till we find out what exactly is going to do you know I or anybody else here really truly knows exactly what’s really going to happen. Shaker for you is the same thing I’m definitely going to keep you all updated. This way all the comments in excellent great advice in amazing truly amazingly knowledge! (I couldn’t come up with no more adjectives to put in front of knowledge!) But I’m definitely curious to know if it’s going to work or not like I told Howard. Good really neither one of us really knows exactly what is truly going to happen we got our hypothesis about what might happen but we never know. And I flipped it around to where I’m not snapping on nobody or ignoring anybody’s great advice and knowledge, and turn it into a science experiment can I come into 5th grade again.

Craig I think an aluminum tube there is the exact diameter. Is going to be a lot harder for me to find then 12in to 15 in wooden dowel with the correct diameter

I have used pieces of an old chair in the past for a dowel. Funny that my neighbor asked wtf I was ripping apart his trash for. He laughed when I told him. Anyway, relax and let the butter set up like it says on the tub. If it doesn’t work you could try jb weld or a two part epoxy similar to it. I probably have a dowel kicking around I can send you if it comes to that. Good luck.

Actually I I use my painters tool to five and one putty knife. The little regular screwdriver on the one side I put down in the one or two butter holes. That’s what happened to it. Of course it’s not completely dry yet but. If it don’t work it don’t work it is what it is. But, if it does work like it looks like in my head then f****** awesome but 80% of me says you’re really retarded and no damn good will that is not going to freaking work, so I’m more determined to prove everybody wrong even though I will be the one being proved wrong but I don’t care I’m willing I got to the willpower in the ambition to see this all the way out and not just leave a one-time message and ask questions never go back and check it out I’m willing to actually truly see this I want to know what’s what’s going to really happen I was actually thinking about turning the oven on warm no higher than that and just take sliding the head into the oven I can’t shut the oven all the way but just slide in the head in there and just to help bake it all more or you know I’ll help it dry out more it is what it is and I’ll figure it out later man I’m going to bed I haven’t been to sleep in a couple days I’m tired as hell and I hurt like s*** so I’ll holler at you tomorrow and we’ll go from there everybody on here except for the ones that was talking about talcum powder and sex drugs and rock and roll and all that bull crap it has made this a very enjoyable time I’ve ever spent on this forum.
