I moved to France 4 years ago, and I am NEVER going back. As long as my pension and Social Security checks keep auto-depositing in my U.S. bank, I’m good.
I understand you - you live in one of the four great regions in France (the others being the Povence, Cévennes and Haute-Savoie), so I envy you!
@Whying_Dutchman I know Provence and Haute-Savoie, but this is the first I’ve heard of Cévennes, so I need to check it out. What features/places/things should I look for?
Actually the Cévennes are not far from you - about 450km. It’s in the Massiv Central.
It’s “wild” and “rough”, you can hike, do mountain biking, take a canoe (“Gorges du Tarn”).
They have great food and the people are very nice. It’s the simple life…
Just drive to Millau (which has an impressive bridge) and then dive the small routes to Mende. Stop where you like it, preferably in the small villages or on the many mystical plateaus.
Road trip!
My 17-year-old Poodle/Jack Russell crossed the rainbow bridge on 31. Juli, so I’m down to a more manageable 2 for a road trip. Life goes on.
Sorry to hear! “Hunde sind die besseren Menschen!”
Das stimmt so.
Definitiv ![]()
Love these.
Are you a Sergio Aragones fan? He’s so brilliant, and I can see some of his style in your cartoons!
I was definitely influenced by Sergio, my favourite parts of MAD magazine were the margins and the Don Martin panels.
And of course Groo!
So…hands are DEFINITELY not my thing, I guess ![]()

I used to draw when I was younger. Took a lot of art classes in college. Then stopped for a couple decades. I got really fascinated with ambigrams when I read Angels and Demons, so I made a few. The dog I drew in high school. The painting of Bruce Lee I did in college. It hangs in my gym. My boys thought it was a self portrait.
I took up painting a couple years ago and really enjoyed it, then stopped for no real reason. I really would like to start painting again. It would be cool to get pretty good at portrait painting.
Those are great man. Get back into it!!
Thank you, I would like to.
Sick
Have fun & keep practicing, but don’t give up your day jobs just yet.
With a name and a comment like that you can’t leave us hanging- show us your art
Can’t draw, but I took the time to “restore” my 20-30 years old Toonstar shirts by scanning them, tracing and correcting them. I have over 60 of them.
Unfortunately, the company went bankrupt. As I only wear these shirts, I started making them for myself.
This is what an original shirt can look like:
And these are some results after the process (this is some music related that I use to print my personal shirts):
Just found the Sex Pistols original:
That one s#cked so much to restore…
