I would love some feedback on my attempt to play traditional-sounding Chinese music on bass. I’m using the ancient gōng scale and at about the 2 minute mark I try some extreme vibrato to imitate the sound of traditional instruments like the Koto.
I enoyed that a lot. I liked the koto part, but then I like kotos in general. Well done.
You have definitely taken a deep dive into the different cultures of music and ventured outside of western music theory! It is really cool, very unique, and a cool challenge. Great playing too!
i didn’t even have to watch that to know i liked it
Thanks everyone for the kind words! Still searching for someone who is doing something similar on bass (traditional folk music). Please post if you know of anyone!
I randomly do stuff…not directionally, but incidentally. A Russian one you did kinda reminded me of a random piece I was doing. Let’s see…

Cool! Kind of reminds me of a Flea riff.
