Choices, choices what colour?

I am thinking about getting a new bass (there’s a shock)
Since I am actually playing with other people, yes that is my excuse.
So I thought I would ask you mob of enablers, er the Brains Trust your thoughts on finish.
I am looking at the Harley Benton RB414 (not a Ric copy honest) but torn between the two finishes.

Both are kinda cool.
I like the Cherryburst but would prefer the headstock to match.
I have not had a liking for the simple black and white but is has grown on me since I got my Peavey

Pick a neutral color brown, black, white. That way you won’t usually clash with what you are wearing. ( if you buy Killarney green, you will always clash)

Or

Buy with what makes you happy.

I have been looking at the Chinabacker copies, but it is a lucky dip I think.
The HBs seem to get good reviews generally and at least have a guarantee.

They only have the 2 pictured.

Red, all day long. Clash-shmlash. You need an axe that looks badass.

@tom_stamm - he should go with what makes him happy - afterall, you want something to pop out when you’re wearing sparkling spandex on stage :stuck_out_tongue:

Anyone have thoughts about the two finishes offered?

Caveat: I really love orange (cherryburst) personally-but, I’ve also never actually wanted headstocks to match bodies unless it’s a natural or polished wood look I’m going for. I’ve had those basses in the past.
That said, this bass is not really an orange burst–from all of the stuff I’ve seen it leans way more into the reds (probably why the call it a cherryburst) that I personally like. Specifically, I don’t dig the way the reds work into the wood tones.

Which one? So, I would choose the black finish on this particular bass. I feels so punk-ish or perhaps early Beatles-ish. Either way, I would pick it up off the stand in a heartbeat and not give it a second thought.

I like the black one.

Ok. Help me help you. Just buy both of them and have them immediately shipped to me. I’ll play them, make a decision, then send you the one that I’ve not played the most. Then, you can paint that one the color of the one that I chose. Deal? Okay… I’ll go wait by the door for the packages to arrive…

Or… I can choose and send you the one that I like the least. Either way, I’m flexible.

Oh, okay. Option 3: I can choose my favorite and send you the one I like the most along with a note explaining what Iiked about it the most. Meanwhile, I’ll make sure the cherryburst (which I didn’t like the most) has a good home and whenever you need parts for the black one I’ll make sure to forward you the correct replacement part numbers.

I’m headed back to the front door to wait on the packages…

okay the passcode is 8675309. and the little number on the back is 1… 2… 3… 4… 5. but seriously you can’t go wrong with either one. I’m team black, though.

Gotta admit I am leaning towards black, chiefly because it is hard to tell exactly what the burst will look like and because black is just cool.
If the headstock matched tho I think I would go the burst.

Personally, I’d get the red. It is distinctive.

The struggle is real

This. You’re already playing with other people, so you might end up on stage with them at some point. A black bass will be pretty much invisible then. If you’re worried about the color clashing with your clothes, just wear a black shirt.
