Connecting monitor out (1/2) to to line in (3/4) on Motu M4

Some might remember that I had a question about listening to audio (bass & background track via Tonelib Jam) via my Motu M4 and headphones in MONO mode.
I can set the audio for bass to mono in software, but not for the background track.
I have a custom ASIO software solution that solves this, but that has some other issues.

So now I am thinking about connecting monitor (1/2) out to a passive volume controller ( the t.mix Volume 1) and connect that to line in (3/4). The Volume 1 has a mono switch.

Questions:

  • Unfortunately, I cannot connect the Volume 1 directly to the headphones out of the Motu (which would be the most elegant solution), as it has significant negative impact on the volume. My thinking is, that the proposed routing would allow me to have a louder volume. Right?
  • I can not shortcut anything, as this is connecting the device to itself, right? I guess not - but better safe than sorry
  • It won’t interfere with the balanced out to my JBL (in terms of noise/hum)?

This is creating a feedback loop. Unless you are trying to make it in to a synthesizer it’s a bad plan :slight_smile:
