Has anyone put together a list of lessons to take a review pass at the course just for the theory? While I picked it up to a degree, there was also a lot of other things I was focusing on. I absolutely leaned towards getting the technique and coming back for the theory. But now that I am wanting to circle back for the theory, it would be really nice to have an organized map for it. As much as I enjoy Josh’s lessons, I can focus better if I am just hitting the theory on this pass. Some of it resides in the breaks between passes during the workouts. A list would be helpful.
Also…I haven’t fully finished the course. I am at Jam With the Band. I took one look at the lessons and felt that I do need to go back and reinforce and better learn much of the theory. I’m particularly weak at the Nashville numbering and chord progressions.
so strange you would come up with this, i decided to go through the course again a few months ago and am following this exact same path. concentrate on the playing part then going back and concentrating on the theory part.
Did better on theory on the second pass [also succeeded at more fast workouts]. Memorizing more of the fret board is a real qualified help for theory. Thinking about doing a third pass - but later on. Weak on speed, diatonic chords, and I could do better at numbers. But I have major and minor scales down, roots and fifths and triads and some comfort with improvising. Mostly because the fret board notes started coming together for me.
