So I’ve been thinking of creating a challenge in the style of the 50 songs challenge but shorter, maybe 20 songs, so it feels more doable, and comprised of songs I am into (no shade to the absolute gems in the 50 songs challenge, I just want to create something geared for my taste).
As a beginner, I’d really appreciate input on the difficulty levels of the songs below so I could organise their order accordingly (and remove whatever would be too difficult, maybe to put them in the next challenge once I finish this one). I was aiming for stuff in the range of beginner-intermediate. Here you can listen to the songs I’m thinking of using. The only one missing is Tank and the Bangas ft. Dawn Richard- Why You Mad? which is not on spotify, but it is here on youtube.
Also, I’m happy for recommendations for challenge songs that you think would fit the vibe, and would be very pumped for people to do the challenge with me.

Well for starters I am not familiar with some of the songs on your list. But I too have compiled a list of around 5o songs that I would like to learn at some point. I am very much still a beginner and my next module is #8.
What I think is the following, [for what its worth]:
This is your creative endeavor and list so even if I was familiar I do not think it ok to modify what are your favorites and your interest to excel with these choices. You will be able to determine the skill level required once you examine the bass lines for all the tunes. [A person’s opinion without really knowing your skill level might be hard to figure out in order to rate the songs difficulty.]
But what I do think regarding the regular 5o song challenge is someday when I hopefully get to play music with others, there will be songs that might not be my favorite that I will have to learn in order to make my progress with the group.
So I say pursue your favorites with great zeal. Even the more challenging selections. I made a list and some of the selections are very super easy and some of them are top challenge material. So it’s kind of a one at a time endeavor for me - the more complicated bass lines seem far out of my reach at the moment but I think in time I will figure out when to at least give it a good try. I think it is all in your control.
Thank you! Really appreciate the encouragement. I guess I just don’t want to put songs that are too difficult on this list so I don’t get frustrated- they’ll go in the next challenge when my technique is better. I think feeling of accomplishment is really crucial in encouraging ourselves to keep going, so ideally I would like the list to be comprised of songs that I will be able to play at least moderately well at this stage (which for me is at 70% of the B2B course).
I’ve got a couple of songs that have been on my list, pretty much since I started B2B almost 2 years ago. Still can’t play them but I like revisiting them every couple of months and seeing how much closer I am now.
