Its been a wild few months between work, hurricanes, home repairs. Etc. I finally finished the JBass. I gave it a good setup today and installed the pickup and bridge covers. I am in love with this bass.

Dean metalman style bass. Poison green candy paint. I took inspiration from frankenstrat. I am just trying out different techniques. It feels very 80s glam rock to me.

Ive been busy with work and havent been in the studio much. I currently have two on yhe bench, a 5 string with a teal candy over gold paintjob, with a nod to knights and heraldry and the other a really fun art project inspired by Elvis and my favorite of his jumpsuits. I think i want to do another beaded Elvis guitar… maybe a black one with the Conquistador design.

I finished the elvis inspired bass. The top is fully hand stoned. I am happy with the results. This was also my first venture into leveling and dressing the frets. For an inexpensive bass kit, it plays so well.

Thank you. I appreciate the kindness.

Fretless conversion I did a few months ago with a rattle can color coat and a hand painted dragon.

Thank you! Yeah, first time painting a guitar. I’ve painted other things, like a couple wooden signs and other odd things. I would like to build a kit guitar sometime.

Nice! Definitely try out a kit. I was a little apprehensive at first, but was greatly surprised. So far, the kits at solomusicgear.com have been my favorites. They are ready to go out of the box. The other brands i have tried, required a bit more work upfront, i.e. opening up the pickup cavities to make them fit, upgrading some of the wiring, etc.
The elvis guitar is the first one that i have expanded beyond the aesthetic and really started working on the frets. It made a huge difference in how it responds. I used the fretwork kit and supplies from musicnomad.
