D'Addario XT's vs Elixir (nanoweb coated)

Anyone have experience with both these striings? How do they compare as far as feel and sound?

Haven’t tried the D’Addarios, but quite fond of the Elixirs. You might also consider the DR DragonSkin+ if you’re looking for a coated string.

As for sound, this was recorded with Elixirs if you want an example.

Tried both, meh!
They both great but you gotta believe the marketing. Coated strings have their level of quirks you have to put up with. While they last longer they are not as clean and crisps.

I had a period where I used the Elixir strings exclusively.

They lasted longer for me, stayed bright longer.

However, they also felt much tighter and didn’t have the same chime as I get out of the straight nickel wound.

If you like very clean, smooth round-wound bass tone and don’t like changing strings, these are perfect for you. They last a long time, and stay new-ish sounding for a long while.

Elixir Stainless Nanoweb rounds are my current favorite strings. About 80% as bright as normal stainless (so, brighter than nickel) but don’t feel as rough as normal stainless. Really like them and they last a long time.
