Bought a couple of pedals off a fellow a while back, and was “gifted” a dead pedal. EH BassBalls.
Had an afternoon to kill so I pulled it open, reflowed all the joints, “cleaned” the pots and switch, checked for obvious problems, and lo and behold… it works perfectly.
It’s a one trick pony… but it’s a pretty sweet trick. This thing has character for days. Not exactly sure how to use it in a mix… but I’m tinkering.
I’ve seen a couple of schematics but they don’t help me much unfortunately.
Nothing is broken and i did do some re-soldering and earthing for a minor improvement.
Essentially it is very quiet when it does wah, like a distant echo across the moors. almost nothing.
There is also a weird brown wire near the diode that goes nowhere- this was a mystery on talkbass also.
Does that mean R6 should be swapped for a larger resistor?
I’ll open it up an post a pic of what it looks like inside when I get a chance (tonite or tomorrow)
Look - this has nothing to do with the thread, but I was reading through, and noticed that the green of the “M” for @MiddleC was a perfect compliment to the green on the avatar for @Gloucestre - plus that beige / earth tone vibe jived perfectly with the site’s colors.
It was just… lovely.
I thought that maybe @mgoldst would enjoy it.
Anyone would enjoy it.
Until I ruined it by adding my avatar to the the color scheme.
Sorry.
Also, sorry for being so off topic.
Damn. Honestly - I am a bad example.
I can’t manage visual aesthetics to save my life, so I did not notice.
The way I read it, double R6 (currently 5k6) and halve C5 (currently 3n3) - but that assumes this schematic is appropriate to your pedal. Haven’t mentioned the model.
That avatar was done by my phone’s AI based on a rough version of one of my doodles, I was quite impressed with the result, it resembles me at various stages of hairiness
