I think this is a good illustration of what I was trying to get at above; what makes a P-bass special isn’t really the tone. The tone is easy for P/J to cover; the special thing about the P-bass is all in the feel, look, and heft of the thing.

And that it says Fender on the headstock :joy:

It’s true.

Never worked a spoiler block before. Finally tapped it. :joy:

Gotta say I was thrown by the flatpicking as I don’t play that way nor listen to music with flatpicking much.

Given the instruments you have owned, I knew two were your Yamahas and one was the MIJ Fender with a modern sounding aftermarket pup. It seems that was #1.

To me, a baseline test would include the unaltered gold standard of a Fender Precision with a stock vintage pup.

Bottom line. It doesn’t matter as long as you enjoy playing it.

Just shoveled the deck and am going skiing with my better half. Get outside people, you might like it :grinning:

I respect a man with a large CD collection (as seen in the background)

It’s going to be 11C and cloudy today. Pretty meh day for outside stuff, we need snow in the worst kind of way. I haven’t gotten to use my new shovel yet this year. I can’t remember if I’ve ever made it to Xmas without having to shovel. The front range still looks brown. I think the ski resorts are getting some this weekend though.

I had 4 of those 11 shelf racks, all packed. When I moved to France, I shipped 1 rack and cherry-picked 25% of the CDs. I donated the other 3 racks and 75% of the CDs to a local charity second hand shop. The manager told me that they were selling so fast, he had to double the price! :guitar: :+1:

What are those? :joy:
I have quite a few and copied it to MD. Sadly it never took off.

I have more than 4000 CDs, as well as SACD and DVDAs. I might do that as well, a local charity is a great idea!

My next decision is being made for me. It’s 18h00 and all 3 of my dogs have their back legs crossed. Time for a walkabout. À demain.

MD as in MiniDisc? That was a truly terrible format, though not as bad as DCC!!!

Not bad as it offers the Sony walkman feel of things.

I’m headed to Chamonix for 3months on the 10th Jan. Can’t wait. Though it means back to playing without an amp again :frowning:

I used the JBL Charge 4 and the Zoom AMS-24 for park playing.

The JBL Charge 4 can be had for about 100€, is very light, sounds much better than the Spark Mini and GO and has no latency for aux/line in.
The Zoom AMS-24 is also around 100€ and is a very good mobile audio interface, works for Android, iOS, Mac and PC. It has two headphone outs.

You can connect any of your devices for background music via USB or line/headphone out and play anywhere.

It’s the perfect mobile solution - I got rid of both my Sparks and the Katana Go for this.

Is it considered too many when you have to remodel a room with custom shelving for your collection? (These pics are from May, many more have been added since then)

Very cool! Though I have ripped all my CDs, SACDs and DVD Audio and play it now from my own server…
Best quality and very convenient!

My goodness!! Going to have to ask what you play them all on? We last had a CD player, what, 10 years ago?

I have CD in the loft… but nothing to play them on. The DVDs all went to a charity shop a couple of weeks ago as we haven’t had a DVD player for years.
